Baldyman
Would be my choice as stated many times.
CardinalSin
Cooke and masters is a pretty potent top 2, so having the right third heat leader could make all the difference. They were this season, But surely they won't both be at Edinburgh next season? Too top heavy with Masters' average having increased this year. Baldyman
But cooks went down Who knows where they will end up though. I would be extremely happy with king Worrall and Wells. In fact I will be extremely disappointed if they are not our top

ZODIAK
thats a bit extreme baldy.... Is Kings sponsor ( golf bloke i think) not a big panthers fan They wont come cheap either lol Doesn't matter if he is I personally think you'd be a bit barmy to choose the panthers over Ipswich at the moment even if they run at all. Ippo look the more stable club by far. Fair play to the fellas that are trying desperately to raise enough cash to run, but if you were a rider and they approached you would you be totally confident in them? Not sure I would. Badge
Well I would love to see Sam Masters as our No 1, just a differing opinion!!

Baldyman
Yup Masters 8.22 Tungate 8.36 So maybe he is not quite number one material?
TheScotsman
You guys crease me up sometimes. So Sam is not quite number one material? Look at the Speedway Star averages........... Monarchs have 5 riders who are all way ahead of anyone at Ippo and Smiling Sam is number 6 on the PL top 10 (on 9.12 with bp)!! (Only Cookie, King, Barker, Lawson & Stead are ahead of him.) And remind me - was it the Smiler who knocked up a max in the KO Cup Final at Ippo recently??
Baldyman
Well I wouldn't rate tungate as a number 1, so why would I rate masters as one? Having said that, I would take masters over tungate any day of the week, and averages with bonus points means nothing to anything, apart from his wages. I'd say an average with bonus points is a far better guide. Surely the number 1 who scores 2 bonus points a meeting because he sits behind and helps his team mate is a better number 1 than the rider who averages the same without bonus points but constantly leaves his team mate to fend for himself. Masters has a similar average to Rohan Tungate, but you'll notice there isn't many if any Witches fans that see Tungate as number 1 material either. That's because both have achieved their current averages riding in the 2-5 and not at number 1. I personally wouldn't touch either of Masters or Tungate on their current averages as I don't see any improvement in either rider.
Baldyman
So masters bonus points is less than a point, so obviously he just clears off then, and he probably picked up plenty of them finishing behind cook in heats 13 and 15. Again I shall repeat, I would take masters over tungate, but not king. In fact I would take masters over every other number 1 apart from king and cook and stead. Super Blue
Opinions on a true No1 will obviously be very diverse, I just want the Witches one to be as good as possible and be hitting almost guaranteed double figure scores at every home meeting. I don't see Tungate or the likes of Masters doing that.

Race him at number one in the team and how many times would he win heat 1? Not many is the answer. Got his average riding at the easier number 5 position. Granted he may be a slight improvement on Tungate but not an out and out top liner like King would be. Masters and Tungate are going to find it hard to get a ride over here in my opinion, unless Cook does what he should and leave Edinburgh will soon regret having Masters at
