Ipswich 2015

In Covatti you are talking about a rider who was one win away from the GP's and is in the GP Challenge final, with further investment and some fine tuning, I would rip up the scrap book and he could easily become the no.1 for next season, would rather see an entertaining side next season with improvement than the same old so now i will change it to

1. Nico Covatti

2. Robin Aspregen

3. Richie Worrall

4. Kyle Newman

5. Ricky Wells

6. Arthur Sissis

7. Ashley Morris

LOL or am i kidding ;)

Covatti would be a massive risk as a number 1 because his gating is so inconsistent. If there's a lot of grip out wide, then he can recover but even with that grip struggles to catch a Cook, Kennett, etc.

He has struggled on the couple of occasions when there has not been an outside line at Foxhall. Also, his away scores are not the scores of a number 1.

That's interesting you say that about covatti. I tend to agree about the out and out number one status, but not even king could beat Kennett or cook at home.

I would keep king if he doesn't race for a Thursday or Friday track in the elite league.

Also it's Nielsens riding style that makes him look uncomfortable. He is very upright on the bike.

Danny King to be Panthers number 1

Not if he stays at Coventry, as a Friday track.

Not a chance. He'll be our number 1 again next season.

I don't care if Covatti is no longer on a cheap average, and little chance of improving his current one.

I know to be successful you need riders capable of improving their averages, but I'd genuinely take entertainment over success, although both would obviously be the preference!

For that reason, Covatti would be the first name on the team sheet for me, he's been an absolute pleasure to watch this season.

That's true, King did struggle against those two at Foxhall. I think where King has been a good asset is his away performances and scores which have been those of a number 1. I can't think of too many instances when you would look at one of his away performances and call it poor.

When there hasn't been an outside line at Foxhall, Covatti has struggled to get past some of the away teams lesser lights as well. Don't get me wrong, I think Covatti has been a great signing and he's been brilliant to watch. He's just not a number 1 at the moment for me.

Let's be honest here, we could and probably ought to turn this into a 2016 thread as the Witches season is effectively over now.

There's no way on this planet we're going to beat Edinburgh over 2 legs and we probably won't even make the playoffs so we will end up as the team of mid table mediocrity that I predicted after our first couple of poor home performances.

I must admit that my thoughts are definitely turning to what might have been had the potential that the current team has had come to fruition.

The only 2 positives really have been Danny and Nico with Danny at least being the true No1 we've been looking for and Nico proving he was not the rider that gained a 4 average last season.

Truthfully everyone else has turned out to be a letdown only showing an occasional spark of their capabilities (and mostly away from Foxhall when they did)

To sum up a most disappointing season and I think most of us will agree that we need to be looking ahead to putting a team together for next year that firstly has the potential to improve but mainly has riders that can actually ride their own track as that's where this season has gone totally t*ts up!

Any preference on riders SB?

I think a team needs to have 3 or 4 good scorers like Edinburgh do if you want to win the league, but that just hasn't happened this season. Also normally when a reserve ends up as second highest average it can often mean a good season, but that's just not happened either. This year covatti has done a Steve Worrall, but Edinburgh won the treble and we won or will win?

Covatti 7.93

Heeps 6.04

Worrall 7.58

Risager 6.25

Tungate 7.07

Perks 3.00

Nielsen 4.34

bit of average dropping, Ellis in for Nielsen, spells out average, but wouldn't be beaten at home like this season, and away from home wouldnt be that bad.

Wouldn't be beaten at home? Are you sure? That's a terrible home team and would be beaten far more than it would win. And a pretty boring one to watch to if you only watch your speedway at foxhall. Edited by baldyman

Having an out and out no.1 hasn't worked tho poor form and injuries have not helped

Think you hit the nail on the head there . Danny at times has not had the support . Mind you if he looked for his team mate once in a while that might help . Can't fault Danny this season don't think he's let the witches down . Apart from Nico no one has really upped there game

I think this is doable

KING

MORRIS

COVATTI

RISS

LAWSON

ROSE

LUNNA

Did like the look of Lunna thou

That is the only negative for Danny, most times its gate, head down and finish as quick as possible, but also again would you look for a team mate with who is back up?

Cookie ! Lol or should I say King backs up Cookie Edited by Pob
