witches forever
Brighton finished due to the the arena having a re fit, then the next season they wanted the arena cleared by 1am even when the arena wasn't being used so Martin Dugard sadly had no choice to pull the plug. I for one really miss the brighton bonanza meeting.

I for one really miss the brighton bonanza meeting. Used to love the Brighton Bonanza went every year. Some were great at it and others couldnt turn the bike. Remember Mark Loram there and just in awe of his throttle control. I remember the year a very jet lagged / hungover Kelly Moran was there. Managed to get my picture with the legend before the meeting which is still framed to this day. He came out in the pairs and was left miles behind in evey race, he then pulled out of the individual in the evening to get plastered in the bar!! Baldyman
It's good that the prem don't change the rules every year. If Louis doesn't do anything stupid, we really are in a great position to put together a table topping team for next season. As long as the right riders are kept and the right ones let go. Baldyman
So is winning the travel plus tours cup going to award the winner financially? It's a great move if it does.
CardinalSin
Schlein has tweeted that a new rule has stopped him riding in the PL this year. No rider over 6 in the EL can ride PL as well. Interestingly he says that someone blocked him from riding for Peterborough this year which has now cost him a PL place for 2015 as he would now have an official PL average. So that means the like of Craig Cook and Danny King are still eligible for PL because they have official PL averages. I wonder who Schlein was lined up for.. 2ndbendbeerhut
"Witches to name new number 1" Thats whats on todays local flysheets, paper goes on to say that Chris Louis will name rider within week. Currently "depends on more than just personal contract negotiations" Continues to say that he has a number of permutations in his head but has a more fixed idea since the AGM. Would work with any of the 2014 linep again in 2015.

But the bit in bold put a few doubts in my mind for some reason. I could be totally wrong, but that sounds like negotiations with said riders parent club rather than the rider? King is Birmingham's rider, and with them not competing in the PL you'd think a deal with them would be fairly straightforward? Or perhaps I'm just barking up completely the wrong tree! Baldyman
Well it probably also depends on what elite club he races for and what night they race on and how many date clashes. On a different note, wasn't there a rule once before about riders only being able to double up for 2 or 3 seasons, but it was scrapped as not enough riders around. Exactly the same went through my mind too but there could be many many reasons. Maybe what Blupanther alluded to the other day may have some truth in it? King to Peterborough if they run, if not then King to Ipswich? Well it probably also depends on what elite club he races for and what night they race on and how many date clashes That is another possible reason, and a more likely one. One thing that does seem certain though, is that IF it is King on a near 9 point average, then that surely rules out Tungate on his average of over 8 I'd have thought as that would make us far too top heavy. Agreed. King and Worrall would make much more sense. King at 1 and Worrall at 5 would be as good a top two as any in the League probably. 2ndbendbeerhut
Taken from Lovespeedway24.co.uk Ipswich Witches director of speedway Chris Louis has told Suffolk fans they won’t have to wait long before they find out the team’s No.1 rider for 2015. Louis returned buoyed from a positive British Speedway AGM Conference at the weekend and promised Witches fans the rider to lead the charge for Premier League honours next year will be announced soon. “I hope in the next week to tell our fans who the No.1 rider is, ” Louis said. “The reason I am not able to now is because it depends on more than just personal contract negotiations. “As I have said before I have a number of permutations in my head with the team but the AGM has left me with a more fixed idea, as the 42.5pt team-building limit remains.” Whether Louis will go for a strong top end, or a more solid-looking 1-5 in the Witches team of 2015, he would not confirm. But Louis has admitted he would work with any of last year’s team again – and that includes current No.1 Rohan Tungate. As regards the AGM, itself, Louis admitted it was the ‘most positive’ one he had attended. “We are sorting out the doubling-up rule which has totally lost its way over the last few years. And everyone who knows me knows I’ve been a big critic of the Fast Track rider system which was introduced last year. “This year it is being tweaked. Too much has gone wrong over the last 15 years in speedway and there was lots of debate about sorting the sport out over the next few years. “It was the most positive AGM I’ve been to.” The Witches have been drawn against Berwick in the first round of the Knock-Out Cup, the winners racing Rye House or Workington in the quarter-finals. The League Cup will stay the same and the play-offs will be the top six teams, but with the top two going straight into the semi-finals – there will be no mini-leagues.
