Main Man
COVENTRY Storm need to pull back a five-point first leg deficit when they host Kent in the National League play-off semi-final at Brandon on Friday (7.30pm).The City Gearboxes Storm restricted the Kings to a 49-44 win at Central Park last week and the tie is therefore well-poised for the return fixture with a place in the Final at stake.A repeat of Kent’s last visit to Brandon would prove ideal for the Storm, as Coventry won that match 54-39 back in early May with skipper James Sarjeant scoring 15 points – which would have been the full 18 but for a last-bend mechanical failure. And with injuries having disrupted the second half of the season, last year’s No.1 is back to hopefully help them through as club asset Joe Jacobs deputises for Oliver Greenwood, who is out with ligament damage after a crash last Friday. The Storm had hoped to return to a full seven-man team as Stefan Nielsen was a possible starter after six weeks out with a fractured arm – but unfortunately after a midweek practice he has had to take the decision that he will be unable to ride. The rider-replacement facility will therefore be in operation again against a Kings side led by two 9.00+ riders in Simon Lambert and Ben Morley, whilst reserve Danny Ayres scored ten last week at Central Park.Storm boss Laurence Rogers said: “Five points down is do-able, and the aim is to pull those points back as early in the meeting as possible.“We’ll be using rider-replacement again, because what Stefan didn’t want to do was come back, not last one race and then leave us in short supply.“Fingers crossed Ollie will be back in action soon, but JJ (Jacobs) is looking forward to being back in a Storm race-jacket and helping his parent club through to the Final.”Admission is just £10 for adults, with all children free, for what promises to be a highly entertaining meeting between two well-matched sides.CITY GEARBOXES STORM (from): Dan Greenwood, Joe Jacobs, Martin Knuckey, Luke Priest, James Sarjeant, Ryan Terry-Daley, Stefan Nielsen r/r.KENT (from): Danny Ayres, Aaron Baseby, Benji Compton, Jason Garrad, Simon Lambert, David Mason, Ben Morley. teaboy279
The fact that benji and magic have been named to ride probably end any kent hopes of getting through although I hope I eat those words. My feeling is we would have been better served by a carefully selected guest and use of the rr facility. That said I thought we would struggle at lynn but we won. Anything could happen but a fear a 16 point home win.
SCB
Why the hell do Kent keep referring to James Sarjeant as controversial? One incident and they've mentioned it numerous times now, at least try and be original

teaboy279
Why the hell do Kent keep referring to James Sarjeant as controversial? One incident and they've mentioned it numerous times now, at least try and be original I read somewhere possibly on here where he got upset because one of our reserves beat him last week. Now if anything had happened i never saw it but if anything happened in the pits you can't see the pits from trackside.
arnieg
Someone alluded to an incident at Kent in a discussion with me last weekend, so there may be something in it. BUT you can't convict a man on gossip

But either tell us or say nothing. Rumours and tittle tattle are bad.
crazysue
Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the Updates site? If so, could you please send me a private message including your mobile number. Thanks

I am not getting involved in rumours mate, someone asked the question about why the website referred to him as controversial, I was just pointing out a possible reason. As I say I saw nothing so that's why I commented, just offering a possible reason.

John Leslie
Thank you. Switch Simon Lambert up to No.1 and move Benji Compton down to No.5 and you'll have it spot on. As FalconHammer says, Joe Jacobs in at No.1 for Coventry and R/R for Nielsen at No.
Blackbird
Looks like it will be a blank piece of paper for me tomorrow then. Don't worry - I'll manage okay. Buy a programme - I'm sure they can't be all that expensive.
P T Preece
Im with Gemini on this, Ive stopped buying Programmes, Been going to speedway since 1973 and have a loft with 1000s of programmes in, I never look at them all they do is gather dust. Most of the programmes are full of adverts or news you already know about off the internet, it cant be upto date news in the prog and the amount of times you get to the stadium and look at the Prog and realise that there are going to be changes, it just seems all very pointless. I would like to see promoters trying both for a season and see how they do, printed team sheet and a programme for the same event and see who bothers with each one, it would be a team sheet every time for me. Got to go now and fill my Programme in.
Gemini
Buy a programme - I'm sure they can't be all that expensive. Why should I buy something that I'm going to throw away as soon as I get home? The £2.50p will go towards my petrol from Leicester. I'm making the effort to go but that doesn't mean I've got to buy a programme and naming the riders in alphabetal order this season has made me even more determined not to get one. Switch Simon Lambert up to No.1 and move Benji Compton down to No.5 and you'll have it spot on. As FalconHammer says, Joe Jacobs in at No.1 for Coventry and R/R for Nielsen at No.3 Thanks. I'm confused though now because Updates has Benji at 4 and Ben Morley at 5. Oh well I'll have a bit of writing to do to keep me occupied. waco
Agree with the above comments programme,s are a rip off ... At Lakeside £3 so i make out a race sheet print off loads ,and fill in the names at the track...Speedway fans can spot a dodgy idea like printing riders in alphabetical order in pre -match publicity to get them to buy a programme at the track a mile off....
