g13webb
As I understand poole speedway are only tenants so all of the above can only be done with their permission. Confucius says there are always excuses when looking for them........... Joking apart, I am sure the owners of the stadium, wouldn't object to the speedway promotions making the Venue / Track better. Properly planned with the right equipment, the whole operation could be completed in a week and I sure that could have been implemented if so desired........ mikebv
No anti poole agenda here as I do think Ford is one of the few progressive promoters.. However failure to hold your leg of a semi either on your own track or elsewhere should really signal your withdrawal from the competition.. Harsh? Probably but there has to be a line drawn somewhere and the lack of the initial staging was largely 'self inflicted'
Gavan
despise poole?? despise ward? You are all over the other forums too gavan Is there something wrong. All is negativity and name calling. Why not go back to supporting your own team instead of spouting all this nasty garbish and insulting words on other sites? You certainly are not supporting speedway. ha ha sad individual. i despise Matt Ford yes. never said i despise Ward find out where i have called names please. maybe numpty and clown so your a bit weak if that affects you. i would gladly like to know what other forums im on because im on NONE so instead of spouting off your crap buddy do some research. I regularly go on the horse racing part of this forum and the Ipswich thread. get of your high horse preaching your stuff at me. try answering a debate properly for a change, there are Poole fans who do this. So my challenge is please find these other forums becaus if you cant (and you wont) you are nothing more than a troll
semion
As The Poole riders like the Lynn Track so much, why not have the 2nd leg there. The first leg showed there was little to no home advantage. At least Buster would give the public/Sky/BSPA a fighting chance of getting the meeting on.
foreverblue
There is evidence. Swindon got the meeting on and without the covers it would have been off. Further proof that the track was raceable and ridable as the Coventry riders ATTACKED the track which is what you have to do on a wet track. If we just call meetings off because of rain and do nothing to try protect them then every year we will have the same farcical scene of just getting the Play Offs run instead of creating it into the event it should be. Speedway has always been dangerous, wet track racing is never going to be pretty. But whats the alternative???? Not get meetings run including a huge title decider till its dry?? Good luck with that one. I see the Olympique meeting at Wolves has been washed out, you would have thought for such a prestigious meeting they would have had covers.

stevebrum
I see the Olympique meeting at Wolves has been washed out, you would have thought for such a prestigious meeting they would have had covers. Only a Poole fan would compare a meaningless open meeting with meetings that are meant to showcase our sport to a TV audience. I didn't know SKY provided covers for open meetings. An expected reply. SteveLyric2
Throughout all this with the weather being poor and a lot of discussion I find the lack of PR from the Poole promotion really quite poor. They will have known yesterday of the chances of the meeting going ahead or not by then but why no information relayed to fans etc ! Information like what??. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 15th and if rained off Thursday 16th - that's been on their website for days. Only a Poole fan would compare a meaningless open meeting with meetings that are meant to showcase our sport to a TV audience. I didn't know SKY provided covers for open meetings. An expected reply. As Sky aren't covering the semi final 2nd leg, I would imagine the covers are already at (or on the way to) Coventry in readiness for Friday!! stevebrum
Having seen the pictures taken of the flooded track last Thursday, shows without doubt the drainage at Poole track is virtually non-existent.. This will only compound any problems there may be when it rains and therefore meeting will always be suspect when the weather is such. To me this is a major surprise. Installing drainage for a speedway track is not a big problem and can be sorted with time and money. But when looking at the track itself, it is never the quality you would expect from a team, always wanting to be referred to as the best in the country. So when taking in a more realistic view of this so called top club, Instead of spending all on top riders, or bending rules to suit, Probably better in the future to sort out your home track for the benefit of the sport and your team, and hopefully problems like we now have will be something not seen again..... This is not an anti-Poole thing, just someone, so pissed off, how one club can dictate the proceedings of the season, because their track is not up to scratch You arent allowed a negative opinion about all things Poole. You will be classed anti Poole. However back in the real World you make a very valid point.
pointsmeanplayoffs
Can't we just ride the second leg at Lynn as well? Poole riders ride our track as good if not better than our own riders do as shown by performances this season. I'm sure Buster would sling Matt Ford a few quid from the takings. Just like you, I'm pissed off with it all as well and would like to see a fair and square ending to this semi-final with the best team going on to the final. Fingers crossed we will get it on!?

Sky are not covering the EL semi final at Poole,so your point is invalid and you would have thought a club of Wolves stature would have their own covers especially when the forecast is good for today, lots of drying out time.

Well it would give an idea so people could have a better idea of the likely hood of when the meeting maybe run as some poole fans don't live in poole skidder that was my point so yes there could be more up to date information given

Yet a club of Poole`s stature don't need covers? Priceless. Like you say with plenty of drying out time today then can be no excuse why Poole don't get the covers down today. Unless you can think of another excuse?

To be fair the Poole spokesman has been on here a lot saying how wet the track is,and they haven't been able to put covers down because the track is stodgy and you can't put covers down on a wet track.Oh and the hole has been repaired. So step forward Starman for keeping all the public informed Just hope he can inform earlier enough if it's called off tomorrow to save any Lynn fans putting anymore miles on top of the 700+ they may have done in 2 wasted journeys already
