Posf2 - Swindon V Coventry 6 October

Recommended Posts

Fricke wasn't too good when Poole were at Coventry but last night showed what a terrific rider he is, no wonder they didn't want Barker back. Kyle Howarth also showed how good he is and probably changed the result when he was injured in the Poole match. To get this performance out of the Bees team was brilliant for Havvy and good luck to him, always welcome at Poole.

Plain and simple Coventry had riders who like the track like that where as Swindon dont. Riders like Batchelor and North are gating tarts who arent prepared to do the rough stuff. Track was never going to suit Worrall either. Greaves shouldnt really be riding at this level as every time i see him he falls off at least once. Morris flatters to decieve a lot either brilliant or awful. At least Gustafsson gave it a go.

What i will say is full credit to Swindon promotion and management who made every effort to get the meeting on even knowing that it may cost them.

Shame the same cant be said for the Poole promotion and their constant cheating

Cov were better wanted much more etc etc ....and it was a well deserved win and good luck in the final . As for Swindon as a fan fathat was the worst i have seen them ride .

Still trying to figure out how Howarth rode like that almost like a world champion .

I'm sure every Bees fan will be perfectly happy if Swindon get to use not only 1 but indeed 2 tacticals on the night. ;)

:approve: Looks like all the Swindon fans who were worrying about Coventry getting to use 2 tacticals, never had anything to worry about after all. All the hubris about expecting to turn up at Brandon which apparently was by far their favourite away track, and securing a comfortable win, and then whingeing about the track, which wasn't set up to their exact liking. In the return only tacticals apparently stood in the Robins way of an expected place in the final.

The Bees won this tie not because they are a better team,on paper they are probably not,but because they approached both legs in a positive manner.

What on earth has happened to Rosco? When he was at Brandon, and we went to P'boro for a 2nd leg play off, they set the track up as is their right to be very grippy. Rosco told our riders to just go out an ride it,in a positive manner, and guess what they did and we won.He has gone from a positive bubbly character, to a sour, bitter excuse driven loser.

His interviews last night were an incoherent rant, and at times he even contradicted himself. Apparently the track was' like their place','a ploughed field','track played into their hands', but then he stated the track was fine apart from the starts, and the bends were as dry as a bone,'no excuses apart from the start the rest is fine.

Maybe Rosco has started believing his own press about being ,'the special one',because recently and certainly these last 2 weeks, he has just appeared a little bit ' special'. :icon_smile_clown:

As for Captain Batchelor  ,the phrase ,'all mouth and no trousers, comes instantly to mind. Last week he told us that Swindon's track is 100 times better, well he certainly didn't ride it a 100 times better. Last week Garrity,Searge,Hansen supposedly lesser riders were able to pass riders, in a way that the GP (better than Holder :D ) star never remotely looked like doing last night. If you are going to talk the talk,it helps if you can walk the walk, rather than just sulk the sulk.

So, hands up all those Coventry fans and there were many many on here who were pulling Havvy to pieces before the season started saying he's a waste of time we don't want him as Manager? Well, all you know all's, or should i say, know nothings, he's got you to a final, and in that, you should be eternally greatful..

Yep, fair play. I was one of the Havvy critics, and he's knuckled down and proved himself this year. Well done, Havvy.

See you Monday we're coming up :t:

I've not been critical, but I didn't really have faith in him being TM. But I'll happily admit I was wrong,....if we win the Playoffs ;)

All those who say, "the fans want close, exciting racing" - Well I didn't see a single upset or disappointed Bees fan last night :D We'll take an easy (and it was easier than the score line), from the gate win any time :D On that note and absolutely massive well done to the track staff on producing a track that really wasnt that bad considering the weather in the 24 hours prior to start time.

From a Bees POV, since November our match winners has been named as Garrity by everyone - yet even with him only managing 4 we still did it. Howarth and Fricke barely put a wheel wrong between, Sarj rode well, steady in the reserve races once he got clear and made a menace of himself in his other heats. The rest just gently plodded. After his wall of death and with the Bees in a comanding position I don't blame Kenneth for riding far more conservatively in his last two - he didn't need to be a hero, just stay fit. Clearly that same message didnt entry Jason head as he decided in heat 14 he was going to win it or crash trying. The top 2 were not at there best but the heat 13 5-1 when we'd already wrapped it up makes their nights look worse than they probably were.

Still not sure if I want a Lynn or Poole win on Thursday - positive for both IMO.

It has taken a lot for me to post anything following last night's debacle!

School Report for Robins:-

Kildemand, probably carrying a bit of a knock but not really at the races and certainly not able to manufacture many gates from the mud bath that was the start line. (Why oh why did they decide not to cover the startline-seems obvious to me!)

Morris, a talent on his day but this wasn't his day-only points came from massive mistakes from the Cov two when in B/W

North, had no ideas and like a snail from the gate

Gustavsson, only one good ride and that was after it was all over.

Batchelor, the desire was there but not the capability. GP rider well beaten by Premier League riders. Interestingly, wrote in his programme notes "Fast starts are the key" durrr!

Worrall, his worst home display for the whole season.

Greaves, what I can't understand about this young man is that he gives up when he should be riding 4 laps just for the practice. I have to say that this young man's application was woeful.

All in all an extremely disappointing show from the Robins-interesting that Coventry found the set-ups for the conditions and the home team couldn't work it out.

The whole thing smacked of naivety and reading some of the comments this morning just makes my blood boil. I sincerely hope that Coventry prevail in the final-they deserve it-a very canny set of riders! Well done!

It was a really special night for me and my mates on the back straight, and I've never known so much random chatting amongst supporters who didn't know each other - not just Bees fans coming over to exchange 'I'm having to pinch myself to believe this' type banter, but sporting Robins fans too, showing bags of humility, even asking if they could borrow Bees scarves for the final too :)

The racing was as good as can be expected on that sort of track, but it was still a thrill to see such a confident display from Coventry - the same spirit of application and attitude that has made the away trips to Poole, Wolves, Lakeside and Belle Vue so memorable and exciting this year. Whoever Bees face in the final, I think we can all be assured that they will give it their all - a "canny set of riders" indeed, a great blend of youth and experience. Bring it on.

Many congratulations to the Coventry bees, a fantastic team performance. Think your reserves are definitely the strongest in the EL at this point in the year, I would have said Kings Lynn earlier in the year! Will be good to see them up against Kyle Newman in the final (as I think Kyle will guest for the stars if they win in place of Lewis Kerr). Was very impressed by Kyle and Max for bees last night both ride really well

Having watched the mish mash of elite, premier and national league riders/guests in this years POSF's, and watching the Swedish PO final on Eurosport,

I know which one I will be following more closely next year on TV. Our league just gets weaker every year, yet Swedish teams can put out teams like the 2 below.

Elit Vetlanda = 57 (103)

1. Tai Woffinden - 2, 3, 3, 2, 2 = 12
2. Emil Sayfutdinov - 3, 3, 0, 2 = 8
3. Jaroslaw Hampel - 0, 2, 3, 1 = 6
4. Bartosz Zmarzlik - 3, 3, 2, 3, 3 = 14
5. Thomas H. Jonasson - 1, 0, 1, 1 = 3
6. Jacob Thorssell - 3, 3, 1, 3 = 10
7. David Ruud - 1, 0, 1, 2 = 4

Indianerna = 33 (76)

1. Kenneth Bjerre - 1, 0, 3, 3, 0 = 7
2. Jurica Pavlic - R, 1 = 1
3. Fredrik Lindgren - 2, 1, 2, 2, R = 7
4. Antonio Lindback - 1, 1, 2, 3, 0, 1 = 8
5. Piotr Protasiewicz - 0, R, 0 = 0
6. Mikael Max - 0, 2, 2, 0 = 4
7. Scott Nicholls - 2, 2, 1, 1, 0 = 6

Sweden, where a team pulled out of the play-offs? Great stuff :D

One thing I note from the Swedish play offs is that Kenny bear does not seem to like the play offs whatever the country!

As for last night, an excellent performance, we clearly wanted it more, and that showed in our riding. very disappointed with the attitude of Rosco, he was well liked at Brandon and most were not happy after Horton got rid of him and of course we all remember when Coventry gave him his 1st league title win.... however he has shown scant regard to Coventry over this season and it was with a sense of satisfaction that we were able to destroy the "form team" going into the play offs.

Coventry are in the final but if they lose to the Pirates then It will be a huge embarrassment, It's sometimes better to lose in the semis to a non-rival than you're rival in the final.

Once Lynn are out of the way, We can look forward to a final fitting of the Elite League.

You were spouting off the other day about the Bees not reaching the final because the mighty MJJ had gone ..Don't worry about any Bees fan being embarrassed win or lose its a final & you have to be in in to win it & I am sure they will enjoy it whatever !!
