Ipswich Vs Somerset ( P L Play-offs) - Thursday, October 2nd

Recommended Posts

Meeting No 4 in Play-Off Group B.

Somerset have been hammered twice at Ippo in 2014... they'll want to avoid that again, especially given that Ipswich already have a good race points difference after last week's 57-35 win over half a Scunthorpe team.

Ipswich will be after all 3 points, mindful Somerset have already picked up one away point in the group.

All the best

Rob

I think this will be a home win although Somerset are due a good one at Foxhall, the Witches have previously scored 53, 65 and 57 in the 3 home meetings against the Rebels this season and will need another high score to have any chance of qualifying for the final.

Ipswich's biggest problem is they don't traditionally like either the Somerset or Scunthorpe tracks and are likely to fail badly at both.

I rather feel that the significant meeting of the group is going to be when the Witches ride away at Scunny!

Can only agree, even if we get to 75 against Somerset at home, if we get nothing at Scunny, its all over! Roll on next March, new season and plenty of time with the evenings pulling out to fit in PLKOC Final.

A win taking all 3 points is essential.

Somersets poor results at Foxhall are a bit of a mystery. Allen Morris and Aspgren have all performed well previously (but separately) and the rest are all capable of popping out and winning a race.

Fingers crossed they dont choose this as the time to click at tge same time.

As others have said race point difference neans nothing unless we can perform away or Scunny surprise the Rebels in their return match.

I don't suppose the Rabbles will slip-up at home to the Scorpions on Wednesday ... no :(.

Scunny are one of the few teams who can push Somerset around their place. It's a real shame we're missing Nicolai Klindt at the OTA, but Kyle Newman is a decent replacement.

Don't 100% rule out Scunny on Wednesday.

So as expected Ritchie H and Cam swapping places for this one, I don't think it will make a great deal of difference as both are more than capable of scoring decent pts from either position.

Still hoping for a reasonably comfortable homewin but I reckon that the group will be decided away from Foxhall.

We always seem to pick up injuries at play off time, hope Charles can make a speedy recovery, and good luck to Kyle tonight.

It could be worse you could end up like Ipswich last season, by the time we got knocked out of the play-offs and were in the KOC final we finished with 3 of our 7 riders. Adam Ellis & Rohan Tungate got injured in the play-offs and Ben Barker & Leigh Lanham got injured in the KOC final. What a damp squib that turned out to be.

Indeed - I had forgotten how badly Ippo were hit last year.

I was just thinking of how Nick Morris wiped out Joe Tabaka in the 1st leg of the play-off final putting him out of action for both legs, forcing him to delay his wedding because of the injury and costing him his Monarchs team place for this year because he wasn't going to be fit. And quite likely costing Monarchs the title last year.

But bitter - moi? - too right!!

Surely we need to kick some butt tonight, just in case we don't get anything tomorrow.

if we dont get anything tomorrow we have to get at least a point at Somerset regardless of points difference.

Or hope Scunthorpe get a point at Somerset, which is more likely than us getting anything.

Wouldn't we then all end on 6

Didn't Scunthorpe get hammered down there last night ?

Will be tough for Scunny to get a point at Somerset now. Maybe next year? ;)

As for tonight - would have liked to have seen Wolbert instead of Howarth if he was available. We might have stood a chance of a point then.
