torpointfanatic22
IF that did happen (unlikely IMO) then I wouldnt be surprised to see him reinstated in the Somerset line up. He'd probably avoid a ban too! In all seriousness if Somerset were told he was a 7 then he should be a 7, that's what we are signing him on or led to believe we are signing him on so lets wait and see. I'm happy either way to be honest.

Roger MARTIN
This is a comment in the local Plymouth paper by Lee Trigger the Devils team manager. Plymouth Devils' boss Lee Trigger has high hopes for Jack HolderBy HeraldSport | Posted: January 13, 2015 Devils Comments (0) TEENAGE Australian prospect Jack Holder will not be fazed by following in the footsteps of his older brother, Plymouth Devils’ team manager Lee Trigger insists. Jack is the younger brother of former world champion Chris, 27, who secured his title in 2012 and is still riding in the UK’s top speedway tier with Poole Pirates. The younger Holder, however, will not be concerned over the obvious comparisons which will be drawn between him and his older sibling. It is his first foray into UK speedway after winning a string of titles in his native Australia. Trigger said: “Jack’s the brother of Chris Holder and he knows what his last name is – but he’s called Jack and not Chris. “In my view, Jack will give us 100 per cent and he’s the brightest young prospect to come out of Australia, if not the world, for some time.” Holder’s arrival is not entirely sealed down yet, as Premier League Plymouth are waiting for a final clearance from immigration authorities, although Trigger is fairly confident that nothing will go wrong. In fact, Trigger nearly did not land his man at all because he was heading elsewhere, to one of Devils’ neighbouring rivals. Trigger said: “Jack’s application to come into this country and go to Somerset (Rebels) was rejected because, as it turned out, Somerset didn’t sign him. “He’s not going to Somerset now, so his application to work over here has been renewed for Plymouth. “He was going to come over to the UK last year, but he didn’t because he wanted to finish his apprenticeship in carpentry, so he’s obviously got his head screwed on, because he’s got a trade behind him.” Jack is also brother of James Holder, who briefly rode for Devils during the reign of ex-chairman Mike Bowden. Trigger said: “The good thing is that James, who works over here now, will be helping Jack from time to time with his mechanics. “James obviously knows our track from his time here and he’ll be helping Jack when his job allows. “And Jack will be staying with his brother Chris in Dorset, so it won’t be too far for him to come for meetings.” Trigger made it clear he was keen to get the young Australian to Plymouth. He said: “I heard that Somerset weren’t going to register Jack on December 19, and on December 19 I was on the phone to his brother Chris to see if we could get him to Plymouth. “I have been talking to Jack lots and lots and we have pretty much nailed down a deal which is fair to both parties for him to come here. “I’m hoping nothing goes wrong with the red tape, because that’s really all that’s left to sort out. “It’s just a question of waiting, although I can’t see any reason why it shouldn’t happen. “It’s not just going to be a question of him coming here for a year, then leaving for the benefit of someone else, either. “I am going to have first option of signing him again for another year after that.” Read more: http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Plymouth-Devils-boss-Lee-Trigger-high-hopes-Jack/story-25848186-detail/story.html#ixzz3OoyG1fWAFollow us: @heraldnewslive on Twitter | theplymouthherald on Facebook Edited January 14, 2015 by Devildodger
SCB
No doubt every time Jack is mentioned we're going to get "Jack, brother of Chris, who doesn't want to be compared to his brother" like we got for 4 season with James!!
EIS002
Last sentence is interesting that he's got first option signing him for 2016,,, Does that suggest he's not going to be a Plymouth asset???
Rico
Based on what Matt Ford insinuated over the microphone at the Play-off Final at Somerset last year I would take it as read that Jack Holder, whatever is said/done 'officially', will be a Poole asset in all but name until he actually moves up, should he prove to be good enough. One could also assume that Brady Kurtz is in a similar arrangement. Rico
Mr Blobby
can't see holder being at Plymouth for long when he gets an official average he will back along the road to Somerset IMO

Would they give it if it resulted in the dropping of a British rider?

Najjer
That press release reads to me that Plymouth ARE anticipating problems getting Holder into the country, but best to cover your tracks before it happens. I wonder if there is perhaps more than meets the eye with regards Holder being dropped by Somerset. Based on what Matt Ford insinuated over the microphone at the Play-off Final at Somerset last year I would take it as read that Jack Holder, whatever is said/done 'officially', will be a Poole asset in all but name until he actually moves up, should he prove to be good enough. Penny Cross
With Benko now not coming over, it creates a big problem. He has to stay at home to help with the family business. He was one rider that I thought would improve on his starting average. Assuming Holder signs on a 7pt average, that will leave 7.64 for 2 reserves. Who now? torpointfanatic22
can't see holder being at Plymouth for long when he gets an official average he will back along the road to Somerset IMO Been told it's a two-year contract so would hope not! Assuming Holder signs on a 7pt average, that will leave 7.64 for 2 reserves. Who now? No bigger than than we would already of had at reserve with the points we had available. I don't think Benko would have done much this season anyway. Yes he had some bike troubles and a shoulder injury in 2014 but he did next to nothing to make me believe he would be anything other than a PL reserve, his home form was OK but his away form was arguably the worse I've ever witnessed. On what I saw last season it was more of a case that he couldn't get any worse in 2015. But of course it's a shame that his family are having troubles so I do wish him all the best. As for the way forward well if the two originally muted to complete the seven do sign then it's another three pointer and hope for the best, maybe Tom Perry? Unless we make a couple of changes...
