barncooseboy
as there are comments on the Edinburgh site about publicity thought I would put on here where Plymouths will be. Within the next couple of weeks there will be advertising boards on the Torpoint Ferry, they claim 6 million people per year travel on the grey ghosts. The giveaway Plymoouth Magazine will have 1/4 page ads in May, June and August editions, there is a new giveaway Sports mag coming out will have ad in there, 15000 A5 flyers will be going to caravan sites, Motorbike shops, Tourist offices etc and they will also be available at the ttrack for you to scatter in shops around the city. Please remember that some shops have racks that people are paying a lot of money to be in and they get upset if you 'pirate' add flyers.

Godfrey Have the promotion thought about contacting Plymouth Argyle about getting one of the riders with bike to do a demonstration before one of the remaining football fixtures. I remember Mike Coles and Seemond Stephens doing this a few years ago to promote the Falcons
greyhoundp
The best advert Plymouth could get is by tracking a decent Team, they have not done this since they have been in the PL, and this years Team looks No better, I have nothing against young Chapman but the only way he is going to score any points is if another rider fails to finish, there are lots of young riders out there better than Chapman, or is it that they dont want to travel down to Plymouth ?. EnglishRoundabout
They might take some stopping around the SBA, but away from home they look like they will be vulnerable and there for the taking unfortunately.
torpointfanatic22
It was more an example that a line has to be drawn somewhere - and that is a 7.00 average in at least 20 meetings the previous season. As always the BSPA like to put a loop hole in the rules. I understand the reason why an 'extreme circumstances' clause is put in but they just open themselves up to manipulation. Like everyone on here I'm pretty certain the Fish would easily have obtained a seven point average last season but yet again the BSPA do themselves no favours. The only good thing about this Plymouth side, from my point of view, is it'll keep the Rockets off the bottom I said on the Devils forum that I think we will be top 10, maybe top 8 at very best which I thought was ambitious. I don't think we'll be bottom of the pile though.
EnglishRoundabout
A decent Devils side will like everywhere, bring the crowds in. Plymouth have a huge catchment area and has great potential for big crowds. I visited the SBA a year or so ago when the team were struggling and riding against an average Glasgow side, yet there was still a very healthy attendance. barncooseboy
Think back, locals in P;lymouth teams of the past, Chris Julian, Chris Blewett, Mike Coles, Bob Coles, think they all did pretty well over the years. Lets face it EVERYBODY knows Plymoouth is located off Lands End without any roads joining it to England so its impossible to get there. Unless you are a fish. greyhoundp
I notice the Bookies have you down as 25/1 to win the League, or in other words the Team least likely to win the League so therefore the weakest Team, as we all know its not often the Bookies get it wrong, so it seems again the management have got the Team building badly wrong yet again. Plymouth will not win the league in my opinion however, many things change over the course of a season. Looking at the Plymouth team I think they will be hard to beat on their own tricky track. They have a number of SBA specialists in the team. Away from home we will see.
Lord Skid
If you can't put a winning Team together on a track with the biggest home advantage in the League, then you really have got to question the ability of the people doing the job. You really think it has a big home advantage? I've seen Berwick (biggest current running track in all 3 leagues) there 3 times and we've won two of those visits... I personally thought it seemed quite a fair little track

I agree with Bandits4eva. It is a very fair track at Plymouth. No obvious advantage at all. To win anything, you need riders who are going to improve on their starting averages. I just don't see where that will happen. Well, not enough to make the play offs.
ancient mariner
If you can't put a winning Team together on a track with the biggest home advantage in the League, then you really have got to question the ability of the people doing the job. Ever since the Devils were resurrected in 2006 one thing has been amply demonstrated and that is that the SBA confers little or no advantage to the home team. The only thing out of the ordinary is that the track is short (216 meters). Otherwise it has a start and finish line, 4 bends, (short) straights and a fence exactly the same as every other track. If you look at the Devils home results over the years you will see that more than a few teams have found it to be a very fair track.
