Blacksmith
H How did Howarth look tonight? Was really struggling to get around at all, never once got near a Monarchs rider once the tapes had gone up
scotchopper
Howarth has been poor at armadale in both matches this season but he looked a lot worse tonight. Would be very surprised if we see him in the return match. Bach's crash looked really nasty as well, hopefully both are fit and able to ride. It does make a moickery of the play offs when teams get so badly affected. i think the monarchs would have enough even if they were all fit and i would rather see us tested against the best. Robson had a great score at coventrytonight so he could be interesting choice of guest Edited September 27, 2014 by scotchopper
Lord Lucan
Just hoping for a win of any sort tonight, judging by some comments here it looks very much like Kyle is'nt fit enough to race and Rene might not be too grand either, could be quite a battered and patched up side later on, who could we get at short notice if either can't ride? Seem to be going through the motions now, not good enough and mentally too tired to be serious contenders but, if we can get a win or two from the home matches it wont look too bad on paper and will give us some cheer at least!! Weather is overcast but dry, not scheduled to rain and supposed to have a splash of sunshine later on so not looking too bad at the moment!! Cj69
Smugness has returned to normality (like it was ever really gone ) Shame gotta wait almost a week to find out opponents, would prefer Ippo or Scunny cause not been to they tracks, although Somerset is always a cracking track. Maybe top 8 and knock out formula, eliminates dead rubbers.

Now there are two dead matches to complete in the group play offs a waste of time And who's fault is that?? What team elected to play home and away one week against the same team then the other team the week after with every possibility that this scenario would happen? Workington had no match last Saturday so why not give us the option of playing a match v E,boro/Berwick and split the matches up, Berwick shot their bolt and lost out so why didn't this seniority bollox get kicked into touch and E,boro, or Berwick for that matter, be made to play us therefore preserving, on paper at least, the possible chance of an upset and keep this group alive just that little bit longer and maintain some interest?

It's done and dusted because Berwick and Workington lost home and away. It's as simple as that. Causing an upset, keeping the group alive and maintaining interest would have been achieved by ether of them winning at least their home meetings, not by shuffling the fixtures. That's clutching at straws.
scotchopper
No he makes a good point if promoters were doing what their job is called they would have arranged it so that at least one of this weekend's fixtures was Berwick vs Workington and if it was a neutral organising they would have ensured that the team most likely to qualify were in the final match. The other group is the same although it may end up being an exciting shootout between Ipswich and Somerset. What should be money spinning play off matches are now worse than a meaningless end of season challenge match, it's not even as if the winner is given bronze medals. Worked perfectly for the monarchs as they now have time to fit in the ko cup and league cup.
mikebv
Lots of sports use 'seedings' to try and set up the 'perfect final' therefore speedway should look at doing the same...
