Black Angus
Or maybe, it is because it's Glasgow. Because Glasgow were already given a chance when allowed to sign Howe despite the fact the rule is written in such a way that it implies it should not have actually been allowed. So the BSPA have only allowed the 14 days they have been known to allow in the past. There have been claims that it is "always 28 days" and thus Glasgow are being picked on in this case. In fact, the rule-book says a facility may be utilised to cover the absence of a missing rider "who is in dispute with his club, provided the circumstances have been accepted by the MC, who will determine the facility and the period of the rider's inactivity" No mention of 7, 14, 28 days or whatever.

MD
That is typical of speedway rulebook it can be interpretated differently by everyone. Time for a re-write to make it more specific. It can be interpreted differently by those applying the rules and that lack of consistency is the major criticism.

Lioness
That is typical of speedway rulebook it can be interpretated differently by everyone. My feeling is that a few of them prefer it that way and feel that part of the challenge of being a successful promoter is finding and exploiting the loop holes fans are just expected to lump it. Many promotions and their hangers on still have to wake up to the Internet revolution and realise the days of fans just lumping it because they have no place to air their views are gone

screm
Pretty clear to me. ...." the MC, who will determine the facility and the period of the rider's inactivity "..... But one rule should apply to every club, be it Glasgow, Edinburgh or anyone else, as soon as you introduce at the MC`s discretion you open a whole can of worms. One reason why that particular rule needs scraping. But it's a forum and it's about opinions. On most threads yes, but I could name at least one where critical opinions are frowned upon. Lioness
I feel it's the whole rule book needs re writing as there are a good number of phrases in it open to dubiety. This is the third time I think this season something has come up. You are right though, the rules should be succinct, easily interpreted and the same for all....in an ideal world!

ekimba
hi Tigger fans Can I just pass on a big thank you for the season so far from the Edinburgh Mafia. you guys have been brilliant at deflecting most of the attention and bad feeling away from ourselves this season, and this has let us quietly get on with our job of being the No1 team in Scotland (except according to Gavan that is). So George M, GazC, Paulco, Tyretrax, Lioness, Dorothy and all the rest of you Tiggers, I will raise a toast to you all at the Cup Final,
Joseq7
What do we think our intentions are regarding replacements for Howe and Berge? I assume rules will dictate that we can't use RR and guests for the rest of the season. The signing of Howe appears (now) to have been a complete folly - a kneejerk reaction to avoid the consequences of Sarjeant getting a new average. Howe appears to be chronically injured. Does RR eventually run out? Is it a 28 days facility? How many points do we technically have to recruit to new riders? Would there be 4 homes / 4 aways left to recruit a 7 point scandic? Our success with that market hasn't been great in recent years. Could we make it financial worthwhile to recall Anders Thomson for the rest of the season? Let him meet the new regime and see our ambitions first hand. I don't think he'll ever be a world beater - not with that gating - but would he be at least a "devil we know"?

Anders Thomsen now rides for Rawicz in Poland, who generally race on Sundays.

Gazc
Berge signed for Redcar it is rumoured! If this is indeed the case i would insist on a transfer fee as Havvy snr did with us before letting our petulant Frenchman sign . Only joking Bears fan's if he has then if he clicks you have a quality rider he clearly doesn't want too ride for us so no point keeping an unhappy rider on the sidelines good signing if true. He has left us in the lurch though wee sh*te. Edited July 24, 2015 by Gazc

Berge will be serving a ban for the same number of days that we have been given a facility for, therefore he can potentially sign with another club from Monday. If it is Redcar we should not be playing ball but demanding a transfer fee and being equally as obstructive and obnoxious as we found Havelock during the winter, and not releasing Berge's paperwork. Going to Redcar however is only a piece of hearsay right now and I really don't expect to see him in the PL again this season, he gets homesick you know.
