Long story all to do with a large rent and not much in return from North Lanarkshire council. Don't think Shawfield is in any sort of state to host football and Clyde want a place where they can operate with a degree of autonomy, not as traditional tenants.

Shawfield has large pylons for the dog track lighting, which are positioned on the extremes of the footie pitch.

The floodlight posts are positioned on what would have been the outer edge of the speedway track back straight. One post is between the dog and speedway tracks and wouldn't interfere with a football park, the one at the third bend might be a problem. I don't think Billy King would be interested in football returning given he wasn't interested about speedway returning.

If Glasgow Speedway were to own the stadium then any football club be it Ashfield Juniors or the Bullywee would have to pay for the use of the Stadium. Stick down a 3G or synthetic pitch and we have a facility which the whole community including local clubs and schools can utilise. If we own it we can dictate the pitch dimensions etc . Bear in mind we have a great racetrack which is only a few metres width from being truly spectacular. Fingers crossed.!!

Personally I wouldn't want a senior football club at Ashfield, we have enough problems keeping the junior team happy with the pitch size.

True but if it could happen the extra rent could contribute towards funding the losses of speedway and/or improving the facilities.

Surely Aaron Summers, with the only delay an argument with Redcar over the amount of the transfer fee?

That would appear to be the case , 25k for Summers is a nonsense and we wont pay that . I hope the lad doesnt miss out on a team place because of it .

He should go to court if that happens, be the test case and stop it happening to anyone else in future.

Dunno if it cost Summers a Brough spot, but Haverlock Sn. should perhaps move into the modern world and realise he can no longer demand [realistically] the sums of money relevant in the days of crowds of thousands. Fair enough if he wants Summers, [to a degree ala Kus ] but if its a p!!! take then sorry but, get real. And this is from a neutral [okay a diamonds fan, but the point is valid].

I have been told that the BSPA put a valuation on every rider, & Havelock is going by their figures. Anybody else heard anything ?

Don't think so. Each club has to have a set amount of assets or pay a bond in to make up the difference. There will be a notional figure of each riders value, but it's highly unlikely it to be the transfer fee and especially not £25k for Summers. Christmas drinking started early.

I truly hope we don't entertain any transfer fee for Summers.

It would be a total waste of money and a catastrophic diminish of return.
