MD
Hope Kauko is still up to it, he hasn't ridden over here for a few years and I'm not sure how competitive the leagues he does ride in actually are. He must be late thirties now. Â He last rode for us in 2006, put the best part of 2 points on his average and contributed to arguably our best season of the noughties, when we also tracked Danny Bird as well as Shane Parker. Hopefully he can have the same influence this time, we have looked a bit fragile with Sarjeant in the middle order and our reserves being wildly inconsistent. Â Looks like Sarjeant will stay in the 1-5 for this season. Someone has clearly had a word as he's not jumped the start the last 2 meetings I've seen him, that's a whopping 8 races his left fingers must have been twitching and he's had to earn his points legitimately.

Looks like a good signing to me. He is 35. In 2013 he rode 8 matches for Belle Vue in the EL and averaged 6.29 including BPs and 11 matches for Leicester in the PL and averaged 8.33 including BPs. He currently rides for Griparna in Sweden as well as in Finland.

Pogo1
At the start of the season you asked why did we sign Summers, can't ride Ashfield, PIjper would do better etc, notice you've gone quiet on that one, we now have a young rider in Sarjeant who you constantly talk down who has put almost three points on to his average, and now Niemenen hasn't rode over here for years, according to you when in fact he raced for Leicester in 2013, Is it just me or do you pour cold water on everything the new owners are doing at Glasgow ???

Its just you. Â Just because I comment doesn't mean its always a complaint. No complaint about Kauko just comment that hope he's still good enough to do a job. Â Summers is signing of the season, yes I was a vocal critic however he has upped his game to new heights that few including me would have foreseen. Happy to be proved wrong. Â Sarjeant I regularly COMMENT on as he generates so many reruns from anticipating the start he punishes himself as well as adding unnecessary time onto meetings. I don't think he benefits from the unstinting defence of Gary Havelock in this and riding as a fast track rider in the EL gives him a false sense of confidence. Yes he has put over 3 points on his starting average but will take half that off again staying in the 1-5. Â No cold water from me about anything the new owners have done but I will add comment/analysis to this discussion forum on what I see fit whether that meets your approval or otherwise.

Good post and kinda what i was thinking. He is very fondly remembered from his time at Glasgow but that was back in 2006.

northyorksbear
Apparently Glasgow wanted to sell Berge, but were told by MC that at this stage of season they couldn't insist on that and would have to sanction a loan deal! Â This only further highlights it has been quite an acrimonious split, and even though only loaned out it does seem to be the permanent end of this relationship. Â Wouldn't surprise me to see one or other of the parties comment further at some point, certainly Berge is a very unhappy chappy and that is not implying who, if any side, is at fault for whatever the dispute is. No disrespect, but honestly who cares? So two parties don't get on (allegedly), we move on and watch our speedway.
