Glasgow 2015

Recommended Posts

It has been confirmed by the BSPA and several clubs that they knew before the end of last season this was about to happen Ff and that in fact the governing body cut them some slack to prevent chaos before the end of last season. Technically they are only being asked to stick to the rules that have been in place for years anyhow, rules the speedway community has been breaking. Prudence would mean that clubs should have been advising their non EU targets accordingly to make sure they were not left high and dry. Ignorance is no excuse - nothing has changed so far (as far as is publicly known) other than they are being asked to adhere to the rules that they have been breaking for years

I dont think Taylors last average was over 7 was it? Kozza's is but it was not acheived last year which was what was originally posted as the criteria.

Dftftb, it will be interesting to see if a revised criteria comes out. My own experience of dealing with them albeit a few years ago now, was that if there had been even a minor innocent transgression from the rules they tended to become an immoveable rock strictly adhering to the tightest meaning of the rules once it was discovered but that may have changed.

On Kozza, if I take a step back and look at it as a neutral, I honestly cant see why they would amend the rule for him. I could understand a relaxing of the rule IF a rider had been out injured for a season but in the previous season had been over the required points limit (in this case 7) but unfit to ride in the state championships due to injury but as far as I can see that doesn't apply to Kozza. It worries me that an apparent lack of advice to ride in the state championships and ensure a top 4 finish could cost him this season. My 'Glasgow' head would be happy for me to be proved wrong but my 'neutral' head says 'why?'

Sorry my mistake I should have checked Kozzas average, I wrongly assumed he was below 7.

Manzares I think is very doubtful as he's below 7 and came in the top 4 in some sort of state champs in the usa in 2013,,, NOT LAST YEAR.

Just hope all these visa issues get sorted quickly and if changes have to be made we don't end up with some rubbish expensive EU rider.

Hard to believe that the UKVI, having got the promotions to tow the line and reinstate what they had already agreed, would back track and ease the qualifications criteria so early. Doesn't sound right for a government body.

tend to agree but as has been pointed out this could have all blown up mid season but UKVI did infact 'cut sone slack' to avoid chaos so its not impossible part of the workshop process was to clarify some details.

All guesswork right now! Whatever the decisions the rules need to be followed and we all need to accept it however it affects our own team.

Kozza's situation is very interesting.

He does have a average of 7 and over, but that average was gained in the 2013 season.

He did not contest any of the State Championships as far as I am aware.

He did not ride over here last season due to visa problems, but he was not refused a visa he decided not to take up the terms of the visa, due to the terms stating that he was not allowed to double up or take any Guest bookings, the same terms that Jason Doyle was riding under and I think Ryan Douglas was as well.

I just wonder if he's been given a visa, I wonder how he qualifies under the present criteria that I have seen.

Kozza & Alex Davies seem to fall into the same category yes both have the required average in terms off the criteria but both achieved this average in 2013 which puts into question will this be valid in the decision making process and what argument Glasgow & Scunthorpe can make to help there cause , it may have been easier to make this decision if both had missed last season due to injury.

I personally cannot see them both obtaining the visa from UKV&I as missing last season should hinder both riders from obtaining the visa but the decision for both is i believe the landmark one in terms off what the precedence will be.

Either way we should find out very soon.

I think both these riders will be ok, after missing last season I believe they are now classed as having a cooling off period which will help them return in 2015, if there is a problem with Kozza from what I've heard the rider waiting in the wings will put fear into other PL teams as a 2nd string, no messing about up the Glasgow way this year, Tho Kozza will be given every chance !!!

Can you explain the logic to me in that Pogo1 - Im not quite following. The way I see it, there are two ways to get a visa for these lads:

1. Average last season over 7 - nope

2. Top 4 in recent state championships - nope

I couldnt see anything that refers to a cooling off period - everything seems to point to you having to be top 4 in a state championship if you didnt get over 7 last season. Is this a new criteria they are bringing in? Is there a link to it? Ta!

Never mind that, just bring in this rider who'll put fear into the rest of the P.L. :t::cheers:

i think, i heard. what a load of toss. if any one does NOT fit into the criteria for this year, they dont ride . simple as.. got to go and sit down now for a cooling off period.

thought i had everything , until i heard that one. laguta, i dont think so. more chance of signing kozza.

Why not Manse? Look at it from the agency point of view not speedway. There have to be rules and entry criteria that should be straight forward to follow. There doesn't even appear to be provision at this stage for injury.

People seem to think speedway should be treated differently, perhaps because the clubs have been breaking the rules for years. Who knows, there MAY be an appeals process for extenuating circumstances but from my dealings years ago in a different sporting field I would expect that to include a rock solid reason for not competing in a state championship although that's supposition on my part based on previous experience.
