DJEuan
Is there going to be a change in the personnel previously responsible for the marketing side then ? Just from looking at the posts on the facebook and twitter you can see that Glasgow have someone who knows have to market a club (at the very least on social media). Martin Horbury
Just from looking at the posts on the facebook and twitter you can see that Glasgow have someone who knows have to market a club (at the very least on social media). In the Speedway Star article featuring Gordon Pairman a couple of weeks ago he explained that the new owners had a visit to Poole with their marketing men to get an insight into how they do things down there. There's no doubt that the brothers have done a very thorough due diligence job in planning their take over of the club. The Tigers , like many other teams, relied on volunteers for so many tasks so if the club is know able to take advantage of some of the resources at Allied Vehicles that's got to be a massive help. Pogo1
This is one area where we shall see a marked improvement in, the new owners won't rest till they get the crowd levels upto 4 figures week in week out, I hope the new owners walk into a packed function suite when they meet the supporters on the 28th Feb. crescent girl
What's the latest on this silly visa nonsense ? Has Kozza applied for political asylum in Springburn yet ? Wrong question, Paulco. He can't apply for anything until his prospective employers have an approved certification from UKVI.

From what was in the SPeedway star the new owners gerry and Michael along with there marketing team from allied all went down to poole with Gordon pairman to speak to their marketing team about all this and seem to have learnt a lot so hopefully we have great things to come

Fingersfin
I think a 1000 would be a great achievement given how far the sport has fallen from the collective consciousness. The use of social media has improved dramatically in the last month. A quick look at our 'likes' shows how much catching up to do there is when compared to others. Warriors 25k (average atten 5229) Clan 11k (average atten 3000) Rocks 9825 (average atten 1500) Tigers 1578 (average atten 550?) Facebook is a great way of keeping current fans engaged but twitter imo is a better way of spreading the word. Need to create a buzz to get fans through the door then create a slick entertaining event to keep them coming back. Mingin toilets, crackly speakers and hour long delays for an ambulance appear to be off the agenda in the brave new world of the Tigers.
highroad119
wonder if we will see some Groupon/Amazon Local deals in the early days. sorry for repeating myself but as much as I am delighted with the new regime I really hoped we would have a family ticket for around £25 for 2 adults and up to 4 kids say. money spent inside the stadia would increase as would the atmosphere around the place. Give the kids access to the riders for autographs and photos(believe they are now called selfies!!) and some old fashioned/ social media rider fan clubs and hope they pester the parents every week to turn up. the decline of youngsters at Ashfield has been alarming. and lets rename the stadium, its ours !!!!!!! To be fair The Tigers have only really had a proper Facebook page for about a year and a half, before they just had a Facebook groupand it was linked to the main website and looked kinda bad with fans constantly bitching at each other, so i convinced them get to a proper page, i set it up as well but then they didn't really do all that much with it until now. The content on it now is exactly what i would have done, just look at the interaction on every post the difference is staggering. Good post, you can't market speedway to a new audience with the way Ashfield was. I went to see Glasgow Rocks last month on a deal from Wowcher, there were no more than 350 spectators there. However the facilities were excellent and the overall experience was good. If we get all the ingredients right, decent facilities, snack bar and racing hopefully the only thing we don't have control over plays its part for this season anyway, the weather. Fingersfin
Hi MD, The Rocks average was taken from a newspaper article so it was no doubt embellished. I have been a regular at the Rocks this year and only twice would I say that 350 was a possibility, one on the snowy evening and the other was a Friday night game in the main hall which had a small crowd for some reason. I would say the true average falls between 800-1000. Which given the Rocks pricing, facilities and show indicates the task ahead for the Tigers! Fingersfin
Hi DjEuan, The previous Tigers presence on Facebook was an embarrassment, the petty internal bickering and language would have put any casual observer off. So far the reinvigorated pages seem clear of that, which is great. Now to sort out that's dogs breakfast of a front page on the website. Its way too busy, tries to do too much on one page and has far too many fonts. Again our rival sports lead by example. SCB
Having spent a bit of time reading Glasgow website and facebook I have to say I am massively impressed. If this work fails to capture the Glasgow public imagination the sport in Glasgow is doomed - I don't see what more the new management could have done so far since taking over. Fingersfin
Yes what's happening is incredible, feels like the days of the 261 Tigers... At that point the support of Radio Clyde really raised local awareness could be wrong but it felt like crowds dropped when they ended their involvement. I am not sure if commercial radio still has an impact. The website is packed with excellent content but in my opinion it's presented in a cluttered manner.

Lioness
Is there going to be a change in the personnel previously responsible for the marketing side then ? A look at the most recent newsletter sent out and the latest entry on the official website proves the point: http://www.glasgowtigers.co/?p=3766 Could you have done any/all of the things mentioned before? Yip if you knew how and who to ask I'm sure you probably could have. But just look at the positive exciting way they are now marketing it - its night and day I take what I think may be your point that there are still one or two involved whose people skills are frankly almost non existent but they must obviously offer something else to the club. the change in marketing strategy so far however imo is night and day

It was the snowy Friday evening against London I was there, great finish right at the end too. At £10 an adult, speedway can't compete with that though hopefully we can bring back families to Ashfield, they are evident at Braehead Clan and the basketball though it may need a change of race day from a Sunday.
