Glasgow 2015

Recommended Posts

I'm a monarchs fan, but to have a top stadium in Scotland for speedway would be great. It gives the sport credibility and to be ambitious enough to undertake this project speaks volumes for the new owners, it's admirable

My only visits to watch speedway in Scotland were in 1967...Old Meadowbank and Glasgow White City. I have happy memories of the Edinburgh trip but sadly not of Glasgow. I don't know how the current homes of Scottish speedway compare with OM and GWC. Do any of you Scottish fans who attended meetings in the 60's prefer your current homes?.

There are not very many tracks today as good as Old Meadowbank was then IMO ,great track and great racing.

My first Speedway experience was the last season at Old Meadowbank. I was very young and don't remember much about it other than we thought we'd get a good view from the big open space on the terracing between the first and second bend, not realising it was empty for a reason.

It was a bit like someone firing a shotgun at your face, only worse.

The crowd thought it was hilarious.

And a great day out as well. In the 60's, we used to go at lunchtime, afternoon in the Waverley park and a bit shopping on Princess Street. Tea in the top floor cafe in Woolworths(all the tartans on display) and then on to Old M, for the usual tonking from the Monarchs, and the rows with that obnoxious Mother and Son in the main stand. Then on to the stop in Musslebrough for the sit in fish and chips shop. After that it was a bit of a drag race to see, what I could do the return journey in (about 2 hours then on the old A1). Happy days, especially if the Monarchs fans didn't put the Supporters Club bus windows in. We used to put theirs in at Brough if they did.

As long as he was more Chris than James , then aye . We've had more than enough of guys on assessed averages to do us for a while though .

I hadn't even thought of this option.

James really wasn't very good.

Imagine getting the next Darcy Ward right at the start of his career.

I feel a bit sorry for Somerset but the new ruling must have been clear at the AGM?

I'm sure if we're all honest, we've all done the same at some point.

Regardless of his average, I think we'd be crazy to let him go.

Seems Jack Holder won't be going to Somerset. Would come in on a 7.00. What a Christmas present that could be, and we wouldn't need to pay Redcar any money. Hmm!

Just need to agree it with Poole now! :P

Rumour has it that Clyde FC are looking at various proposals as regards to a stadium move from Cumbernauld. Heard a couple of whispers that Ashfield could be one of the venues. Are people adding 2 and 2 to make 5 or is there any truth in this?

Hope so. :nono: East Kilbride was mentioned last year.
