Peterborough Vs Edinburgh League Cup Final 1st Leg Sunday 5th October

Recommended Posts

So a team exactly 200 miles away, is saying that we will clash with them, and possibly take fans away? Right....

probably more likely the same opposition they are competing for rather than fans.

I'd imagine that Newcastle raised their objection when Panthers news (Aug 6) posted: "Panthers bosses are keen to stage further Sunday fixtures following the success of a recent victory over previously unbeaten table-toppers Edinburgh." and everyone agreed this fixture without anything else in the way? Just seems tough unfortunately, we were in there first.

Of course being as it's Peterborough they'll side with the opposition.

Yes, like we were first in having Sunday as our race night. Out of order unless it was just provisional.

Newcastle is the senior Sunday track. There really shouldn't be any discussion about it.

I think it is quite poor form for Newcastle to force a fixture that has been in the calendar for a few weeks and a cup final to be rearranged. I didn't book flights in the end but we would have spent over £400 on travel, luckily we heard the rumour as well.

Would have been raging.

I was going to book a hotel as well until i heard about this as well. I do know that there is fans that have all ready sorted there travel and accommodation for the weekend.

So we assume that Newcastle objected to our Aug 6 press release saying that we wish to hold more Sunday meetings? Makes you wonder how this fixture was agreed and who agreed it.

Even the BSPA have it in upcoming fixtures so they don't recognise your argument or surely it would say provisional http://www.speedwaygb.co/

(I took a full screen snip should it mysteriously change!)

Since when do other teams have the benefit of redeclaring a new race day, and take priority over an existing team.

It was probably agreed because, at that time, we were not through to the semi Final, and anyway, it seems to suit your cause because of your own rider commitments. But don't let that stop you slagging someone.

If the someone is you then it's a pleasure although everything is so clear cut and you know it all so it's not easy to ignore you, even with the ignore function on.

So nobody at your end had thought that you may make the semi-final, who the opposition might be and what date you might wish to run? If you had the date as provisional in your fixture list and we didn't consider those questions or check then I might have more sympathy.

Common sense must prevail here.

Peterborough and Edinburgh agreed to the 1st leg of the League Cup Final being on Sunday 5th October fully 2 weeks before Newcastle qualified for the KO Cup semi final, and I am sure the Panthers will have done their best to gain sponsorship, and sell hospitality for that date.

Why should it change?

Not looking for your sympathy but. So glad your ignore button is not on, just think of the arguments you would miss getting involved in.

Someone at our end would, of course, have considered qualifying, but until a team like Peterborough hijacks a fixture date, you wait till you know you have a good chance after the first leg, to let others know of your angst. Probably not in your vision that we could have done this earlier, and then not qualified, which would then let you know-alls have a field day.

Anyway, all turned out right, common sense has prevailed, and you don't have a fixture, or your own riders on that day.

I say that on what I have been told today, and hope there is no snuggling up to a promotion just to keep them happy. Let's hope not.

Can't Peterborough run this on a Tuesday? It is their race-day.

All the best

Rob

Which haven't worked so they have run on some Sundays and publicly stated that they'd like to run others. Didn't see anyone object to that announcement or this fixture until someone realised that they'd cocked up. We probably could have found a Tuesday date but it's all agreed and organised now, we've gone past the looking for suitable dates phase.

Or till another club was informed that someone had taken a date that they were going to use if they qualified. Some would call it forward think but others.........

And the 5th October date is now confirmed as Newcastle V Edinburgh at 6.30 as usual. Now don't be late will you.

I am sure your knowledge is correct, but the BSPA site, Speedway Star, Official Edinburgh site, and Official Peterborough site all have Peterborough v Edinburgh League Cup Final, Sunday 5th October at 2pm.

If this FINAL is forced to be rescheduled at this late notice, then it shows the sport up for the farce it truly is.

Why were Glasgow and Newcastle staging a KO Cup Quarter Final on the last Sunday in September?

Edinburgh have been waiting a couple of months to find out their opponents, have a FINAL arranged, then George English clicks his fingers, and it is just a joke, but not a very funny one
