catinthehat
Clash of the news boys management and riders. Dugard vs Silver. BWD vs BDJ just checked the weather and looks good Chessell needs to learn to count as he said rye house was winning? Yes they were after heat one a 4-2 then 5-7 then 9-9 then 11-13 then 14-16 can anyone see a pattern Eastbourne in front it's not hard Chessell to add a few points together. topsoil
Genuine question (from a fan of a Premier League team), now that Eastbourne have ridden a few meetings in the National League, how do you feel it compares with Elite League? Enjoyment factor, entertainment factor, quality of racing, crowd levels etc. Having never regularly followed either a National League or Elite League team I'm just curious. Been waiting for a question like this, it is 100% better, we have wasted too many years in the EL imho. In EL u just get riders with big egos who are mainly focussed on riding abroad, not really that fussed about england, few riders that wernt like that but majourity. This new bunch is young, english and up and coming stars who just ride here, they have huge amounts of time for the fans and actually have deep conversations with us more than EL ever did. I enjoy it a lot more one of reasons is probably because we finally have a team that can win trophies its not just a home track team, thats been proven already. It is lot more entertaining and the racing is miles better, the 64-24 win v kingslynn was infact terrific racing despite the huge scoreline. Guttec i cant get down there to see the eagles now till 20 something of june due to other arrangements.

In the Elite League I felt that we were being conned because we didn't really have a team. With a couple of exceptions we had some riders who would ride when it suited them. Also the away sides rarely turned up with their declared team. They were also suffering from the same lack of interest in the UK. But on top of that their riders who didn't like our track wouldn't turn up, which sometimes gave them an opportunity to book a guest who was a track specialist. Put all this together with the win at all cost (to the sport) of some teams (Poole), and I got so fed up I didn't go for four years. I am now back and enjoying almost every moment. As Steve said the Kings Lynn match may have had a one sided scoreline but there was more entertainment in that match then a whole season of EL. I would also like to congratulate Martin & Conner Dugard on the new approach to promotion at the club, that too is also a breath of fresh air. In the words of a well known burger chain, I'm loving it!

Sophies Mate
I have to admit to being one of the doubters when I heard that we were going to be an NL side now that I have been to all the home meetings and one away meeting (well 5 heats of one ......) give me NL any day didn't really realise how dire EL is/was the racing has been excellent as others have said loads of passing, the riders actually want to race only retire due to bike problems/injury when they do fall off theres none of the laying there trying to get others excluded etc all without exception get up really quick (apart from the odd one due to genuine injury) and if they can jump back on the bike and carry on. Have not seen any prima donna antics at all so far unlike some of these so called 'top riders'. There is a real team spirit amongst the team and they all work well together and love the way that they have so much time for the fans whether old or young or in between which is key in keeping fans new or the die hard fans. After seeing Mattie race for the first time on sunday he looks to be an excellent addition to the team and it's really good to see plenty of racing for the junior riders too some of them will I'm sure will go far! Martin and Connor are doing an excellent job they know how valuable social media is in getting the word out there about speedway.
stevec
When I was stood on the terraces towards the end of last season, my cousin asked me "So what do you reckon on Eastbourne if they went National League then?" I replied that I would stay at home and had no interest in watching a bunch of armatures Well I take that back. The riders have a brilliant attitude and there is some cracking racing. Yes, I think Eastbourne fans are all getting a bit hooked on the success so far but its also just a general feel good factor..
mac101
if you give the NL riders a decent track to race on you will always get decent racing was there on Sunday and the racing was good even when Stoke riders made a gate Eastbourne riders found a way past them by the first lap inside and outside great home advantage track will take a good team to beat them

topsoil
Cheers for the feedback. My reason for asking about the National League was brought about after a lot of comment about the track I support becoming a gate and go track and support is suffering as a result of this. My own opinion is that the shape of the track does not lend itself to good racing, combined with the increasing speed of the bikes. One of the closest races I have seen this season was between Luke Crang and Nathan Greaves, two National league riders. I just wonder if the slower bikes might lend itself to better racing here. woofers
I agree whole heartedly with what has been put forward so far. Another reason for the better racing is the fact that there is not such a gulf in the capability and skill of the riders that you get in the Elite league. Of course there is a difference between the top guys, mid order and reserves, but it is nowhere near as marked as the Elite. It makes me wonder if the Premier League is something between the two and something Eastbourne should be striving for in a year or two? It would be nice to try and take as much of this team into the Premier. Maybe get Tom in at reserve as soon as poss and then have a premier league team in a few year with Bradley, Tom, Georgie and Kelsey perhaps. Although I somehow think Bradley will be an Elite League heat leader in a few years!
