Steve55
Paco crashed in to the 4th bend air fence during free practice. Walked away limping. Hope he is ok.Looks like a great replacement for Birks (no thanks), well out of the League Cup and now down the League we go!
Hel'n'Back
He's not done many laps round Sheffield and you say that? Give the lad a chance....
Cue Ball
A lot of good riders who have done hundreds more laps of Owlerton than Paco have put themselves into that fence, let's not be too harsh on the lad just yet
frigbo
The latest poor foreigner rider off the conveyer belt in the PL. The attitude of clubs in this league does no favours to the bigger picture in British Speedway.
SCB
The latest poor foreigner rider off the conveyer belt in the PL. The attitude of clubs in this league does no favours to the bigger picture in British Speedway. TBF to them in this case, what Brit can they sign? The only possibly option I can see is Adam Ellis but British Speedways stupid rules would mean that is that happened, Birmingham would be stuffed. Foreigners on 3-5 point averages is naff but 5+ I get it.
frigbo
Then fact that a rider like Ellis can't have a team slot in the PL is nonsense though. The leagues should be structured so British riders develop through them as their ability increases. Ellis shouldn't be a 'flat track bully' in the NL just to appease Birmingham or any other club. Castagna may join on a 5 - but you can bet your bottom dollar that the PL sides will keep most of them on 3 point averages at reserve next year. Palovaara and Benko being just two examples. Time for the BSPA to formulate the league system to balance the benefit to both club and speedway in nthis country as a whole. Look at Sheffield teams past and present and you will see that the teams has more than there fair share of British riders.
frigbo
I've expressed this view on threads a lot lately - it's not anything particular to Sheffield.I suspect there will be another PLclub along with a rubbish foreigner soon enough.Although Sheffield haven't been shy to sign the likes of Albin and Maassen in recent times. That's two riders, both rode for the club in one season 2013, and both have not return to the club. In the case of Maassen he rode so few meetings he did not qualify as an asset of the club. frigbo
Why not have a pop at Mr Rossiter. The British team manager. What, about PL teams signing 3rd rate foreigners to clog up team places - why? I've got no issue with PL teams using foreign riders of an appropriate standard at the top end of their teams - it's the rubbish at the bottom ends of teams that's causing issues. Cue Ball
I wouldn't mind people having a pop at clubs signing riders from abroad if there were any British riders that were worth signing instead. Personally prefer to have a punt on a foreign rider than sign somebody just on the basis of their nationality regardless of whether they have talent or not.
frigbo
Lower end of PL sides should be NL fast track not sub-standard overseas riders.
Stan Duppcomic
I remember a few useless riders after their first outings for Sheffield. A useless yank called Shawn Moran and whilst we're at it a useless Brit scored zero. Tai somebody.
Blackadder
Steve Johnston was another. I think Paco just made a mistake in choosing the wrong line in to turn 3, and couldn't correct his error in time. He looked ok otherwise, but understandably, I don't expect him to match Ashley's recent scores to start with.

OILYRAG
Ok, what's the latest news on Simon Stead? Season over obviously, but how's he mending? Last time he was interviewed he said the doctors were happy with his progress and he was starting to miss riding. He was also off the crutches.
