cyclone
I guess it would depend on who else nominated, let's not forget he hasn't even ridden so far, and even a qualifier would have a certain selection criteria. Junior Noticed on another thread it has been mentioned that Sissis has dual nationality (Greece ?). If he comes in on EU citizenship, he does not require to meet eligibility criteria for Australians. Remember him doing underage second halves at Armadale on a 500cc bike and was mighty impressive then.
scaramanga
Why can't he ride in Australian Title series? The qualification meeting is on Friday, January 2nd at Gillman, he'd certainly be able to contest that, and if he's still good enough, go into the Series the next night. ive read reports he will be coming in as a eu rider due to having dual nationality so dosnt need to ride in aussie national championship and thats also why he is a 5pt average not 7 that new aussies come in on

Like a new Peter Craven.
Guest
impressed at this signing for a rider to turn back to speedway after racing at any high level of motorcycle sport surely hes doing it for the love of the sport rather than the money if hes as good a prospect as he looked as a kid im sure he will be a very good prem league rider Isn't the return of Arthur Sissis to speedway because his GP team cannot find a place for him in 2015. That's my reading on several Facebook pages anyway. I have also seen this comment in regard to his GP activities. http://www.motogp.com/en/riders/Arthur+Sissis Edited December 5, 2014 by Guest

OILYRAG
Has a rider that has never had a competative speedway race ever been given a PL team place before ? IMO he should have done a year in the NL before being considered ... and to think we have binned off a rider that scored 18 points in one match last season to put him in who is on a smaller average ! That's how things work in speedway these days. I recall a case where a rider on a 7 point average was shelved by his side because they were over the points llimit to be replaced by a rider two points lower to bring the club within the limits. Speedway prefers computers to talent it would seem.

OILYRAG
Anyone heard how Procters work permit hearing went ? Maybe if we used English riders these problems wouldn't arise.
Blackadder
Can you highlight his Australian speedway record so that we can reflect on Arthur Sissis's ability? I know that he won the 2008 and 2009 Australian Under-16 Individual Speedway Championships, and finished second to Brady Kurtz in the final of the 2010 championship. Guest
Well Sheffield expect "big speedway things" from Arthut Sissis despite his apparent fall from grace in big circuit motorcyle racing. Their SGB comment was: SHEFFIELD have signed talented 19-year-old former Moto3 racer Arthur Sissis for the 2015 season. It means a return to speedway for Sissis after previous experience on the shale as a schoolboy before carving out a promising career in the road racing series. Co-promoter Damien Bates said: “He can do some amazing things on a speedway bike and I don't think I've ever been more excited to see a rider join Sheffield, either as a fan or promoter. “He's a level-headed lad, has plenty of experience racing in Europe in the GPs and he really wants to do well. He's very professional in every aspect. I think speedway's in his blood and GP racing's loss could be our gain."

Alan_Jones
When did Damian see him do these amazing things on a speedway bike ? Before he switched to road racing he did a lot of laps at various tracks around the country, including Sheffield.
Fromafar
Before he switched to road racing he did a lot of laps at various tracks around the country, including Sheffield. He did. And was impressive when I saw him at Berwick I would put him on par with Max Fricke at 15 which is good guide plus you know he has more cycle skills if you watched him in the Red Bull rookie series, certainly worth a try IMO . spin king
I Stand corrected but the point stIll stands. There will always be some sort of gamble bringing in a rider like Sissis, but to be honest it is a gamble well worth taking, and I think that if you were to a sweep around the Promoters in British speedway they would have signed him. The lad was tipped at 16 to one the next big talents to come out of Australia, but he took a different route and went to Moto GP, but he has now been dropped and is returning to speedway. He is still only 19, still young and for the gamble is well worth taking on 5 point average, if he ws 25 and on a 7 point average I would be far more hesitant. But its a 5 point average and starting at reserve and time will tell how well he will go.
