Arson fire
Slightly off topic, but a guy at my work smuggled his two kids into a safari park in the boot of his car to save a fiver. Then came to work and told everybody. Eeee the little monkeys Btw what safari park do kids get in for a deep sea diver these days lol
ruffdiamond
aye I wish they would put me on the pit gate,, there would be a lot more room in the pits for riders and staff to move around as the freeloaders would be ( made to pay or go away ) there has been some pretty simple proposal's made to help quash this, but it needs to be policed,,, you would make a good 'speedway policeman', so would I,,, Eeee the little monkeys Btw what safari park do kids get in for a deep sea diver these days lol no,,, they tried to smuggle them out :-)
MrMungo
Riders were allowed one guest last year, other than a mechanic. There's a story going round that one rider smuggled SEVEN of his mates into Peterborough in the back of his van last year. I think Garrity was "ill" when Rye had to go there again later in the year. dantodan
My daughter and I have paid for our "expensive 2015 season tickets". We do this every winter as we think it will help the promoters to get some funds in during the close season. If the situation we all dread comes to pass and the promoters announce that we will be closing down from lack of funds through the turnstiles/season tickets, The free admissions should be asked to pay and still do their jobs to keep the speedway running, in addition the fans, me & my daughter included, should also be asked to support a SOS fund ie Save Our Speedway. We would all need to pull together to avoid losing our speedway. I used to work alongside Barry and Bob in the box in the 1980s and had free admission. If I had been asked to pay and continue doing what I was doing I would have said yes to keep the speedway going. It closed and I was never asked to help this small way. When I was running "The Diamond Geezers" a few years ago I and my Diamond Geezers co-workers still paid to get in, never once asking for free admission we helped the promoters at the end of 2004 and throughout 2005 and we cost the promoters zero every week. We raised funds as you may remember, mainly our sponsored abseil from the Tyne Bridge? If enough people: staff and fans, get together, if times get hard we could provide some help if the promoters ever get into difficulties... We need to keep speedway going in Newcastle. What would be the alternative? The track closes Down If we close down again that will be the end at Brough Park. The council will say that is the end at Brough Park the residents will say no to reopening on noise and nuisance levels. Brough will be lost forever to the sport. We need to keep our speedway running otherwise that is that, no more speedway in Newcastle. I will then need to add a webpage to my "Defunct Speedway" website which will be a very sad thing to do! To keep Brough Park Speedway going I would pay a few quid over and above my "expensive" season ticket price. So bear in mind staff and fans that it all comes down to money, that is the only thing that will ensure we have speedway in the Toon. We should be willing to help financialy Edited January 7, 2015 by dantodan
tyretrax
Riders should be allowed 1 guest and 1 mechanic, everyone else should pay. If anyone who pays i.e. track staff, announcers etc who think they are entitled to free addmision they could be reimburrsed at the speedway office. Better still they should be issued with a pass and log in at the office, no pass PAY. Edited January 7, 2015 by tyretrax

Better still they should be issued with a pass and log in at the office, no pass PAY. Don't worry, that is already controlled. People who put the sheets down, or work on the air fence with me, are known and, if people tried to get in without helping, those who do help soon let you know, and with good reason. An idea was floated last year whereby tokens were to be issued to those who do the work, and it might reappear this year I think. I am regularly asked if 'so and so' did the sheets, cos they are trying to get in, so there are checks in process. Track staff are very valuable fans without whom, there would not be speedway at any track. During the Winter the same people are at Brough every Sunday putting posts in, renetting, painting, making kick boards, digging trenches, air fence washing, to first of all close down the track, and then to get it in shape for Practice day the next season. Same people ever year, with none of the knockers showing any interest in helping. That's right, the track staff do the Winter work for nowt except coffee and biscuits. Interesting bit about the numbers in vans at the pit gate. It was known about folks from other tracks getting in for nowt, in exchange for our staff getting in for nowt at their track. Some thought the management didn't know. Ha Ha. Also, I really can't understand why anyone would bitch about track staff getting free admittance, a guest voucher, chips, burger, free proggie, coffee all day or whatever. The people who comment on it have no desires to do the work, so why should they berate the concessions that they get for putting down and picking up the sheets and air fence late at night and in cold and pissing rain. It's nowt to do with them, and it is small change for what they do. Edited January 8, 2015 by Tsunami

I'd bet that some of the track staff/sheeter's ruin some of their clothes and go thru gloves and have loads more washing to do,,, maybe they could be rewarded with a hoodie, or t-shirt, so people can recognise them, if people are trying to sneak in,,, no uniform = no entry,,, even if it was some out of date speedway gear ;-) Edited January 7, 2015 by ruffdiamond

ruffdiamond
We probably need souwesters and wetsuits most weeks. well,,, if your stupid enough to put the sheet's down in the rain, your certainly stupid enough to pick them up when it's postponed,,, fair enough, it's different if it rain's during or after the meeting, which to be fair does'nt happen that often :-) I was a track staff member at Glasgow in 2013 and we were given overalls, gloves and a badge that was to be worn somewhere that could be easily seen at all times. oh,,, forgot to mention the free dinner dance ticket aswell ;-) I do not bitch about anybody good luck to them all but i struggle to do 30 hours a week because of a bad heart at work .Where i stand there are track staff-smokers next to bob who know the rules but they disregard them.I take my hat off to all that help out on the scene or behind it to help keep newcastle speedway going. well,,, if they had their 'uniform' on,,, someone should tell on them, they might get wrong, or lose their job,,,
