Newcastle 2015

Recommended Posts

With small crowds the promoters should be looking at how to reduce costs. I have no idea how many fans get in for free. I have no problem with this if they are doing essential work on behalf of Newcastle Speedway but are all free admissions doing essential work!.

However, when I was running the Diamond Geezers in 2004/2005. We did not ask for the Diamond Geezers to get free admission despite countless hours/whole days that we spent helping the cause. We all paid to get in. If the situation comes where the promoters are on the point of closing us down due to lack of funds then maybe staff could bolster the coffers by paying to get in or pooling their admission money to sponsor a few heats etc.

I know this post will make me unpopular but we need to consider how to keep the speedway in Brough Park otherwise if it closes none of us will have anything to do on Sunday evenings

Some very good points there, but if say, staff/workers, we're asked to pay would they come ? and , fine if they did, but if they didn't more staff would be needed ???

Volunteers who give up their time to assist in the smooth running of speedway, should recieve:-

a) Free admission

B) Free programme

c) As much tea or coffee as they want

That should be 'b'

How about everyone who wants to be in the pits has to have a pass? Riders, 1 mechanic and anyone directly involved in the running of the meeting (medical personnel, track staff, machine examiners etc.) get in free, everyone else pays £100 for a season long pass? This will find out who really wants to be there, and if they don't come, no loss, they weren't paying anyway.

spot on ernie I would love to do the pit gate for 1 week and see how many would be willing to pay in then.. a wonder if they would try to jump over the fence just like the migrants at the French ferry landing

dunno,,, haven't got a clue, maybe someone should shoo them out with a broom :-)

Georges mam Joan springs to mind she could Shoo them to the turnstile and twist their arms until they paid. No-one would mess with Joan, she could even get George to pay his way in  I hope there are enough paying customers every home meeting to avoid closing down. I have been there before and it isn't good. I once bought shares donkey years ago but we still closed and I never got a penny back.

I remember a few years back a rider, living local, drove through the pits gate with a number of "free loading imigrants" in his van, dare I name him. Yes I do Dickie Juul. If he did it I suspect others have or still are doing it too.

Before I quit the subject I would like to know just how many people on a race night have gained admission for free and WHY I am not having a pop at the many staff whom don't abuse free entry

People talk about, cost cutting, saving, etc. Things sound like there tough in speedway at present, and can it survive ?

could fans/staff/workers afford to pay more, or any, who knows ???

could riders do it for less, 2 bikes and all the gear can't be cheap, some must really struggle and some must be ok,,,

but if there's no club and less speedway, less jobs for riders and less potential earnings,,, just a thought ;-)

So the weekend approaches and because of the Cardiff Grand Prix we have no home match. I went there once and didn't like it then I went to Marketta Stadium in Prague Czech Republic and enjoyed that GP 100%

Cardiff has probably staged a much better GP than the only one I have been too but my GP memories that have lasted are of Nicki Pedersen in Prague, can't even remember who won the Cardiff GP I was at!

I think many people go to Cardiff as a social event with the speedway the focal point Dan, I and my pals go down on the Friday morning from Newcastle and the festivities start as soon as we clear the Tyne Tunnel. A very enjoyable weekend and meeting up with people you only see infrequently, add to the whole experience.
