screm
Shame Adam Ellis stays so far away. What has distance got to do with it, Ben Barker is hardly local.

Quite a bit depending on the rider actually Logistics and travel has quite often been a problem for Northern clubs Edited December 9, 2014 by sparkafag
DSC67
An interesting point brought up is that it is a complicated sport to learn. It needn't be, but the wonderful rule makers see to it that it is. The late Ian Thomas once said that the speedway rule book needed rewriting - On the back of a cigarette packet

YAMYAMBANDIT
volunteers built the stadium at Berrington lough without these volunteers there would be no business as you call it speedway has always relied on volunteers Then place a value on their work as a volunteer, for example the labour to build Berrington was 10% to 15% of the value of the club, they should be represented on the board for that amount of input, a 10% to 15% vote on how the club is run. A fair reward for their endeavours.

A fair reward for their endeavours. Then they have take as share of the liabilities of the business too. I will leave to work out the potential implications of that, and the potential difficulties that it would introduce. Corporate governance being just one of them. As Goodiepatch points out, speedway has always relied on volunteers, as do many other sports clubs. They volunteer to keep the sport they love going. I know many at Berwick who have volunteered for decades: they have been an essential part of keeping Berwick Speedway alive. Taffy, your financial support is also one of the factors that has helped, along with many others. Both the Supporters Club and 2012 Supports, also vital. Instead of (some) picking fault all the time on here, maybe they should show a bit more respect to everyone that helps out behind the scenes and realise that running a speedway club is an incredibly difficult task. If everyone brought one new person with them at every club in the country, we'd see the sport actually have a chance to move forward instead of peeing into the wind. Then the clubs would be better placed to act on some concerns the fans have. I know, there is also an awful lot more to do than that, but that is what I see the fans can do to help. Don't think it's about picking fault, it is about holding a debate to move the situation forward, to the advantage of the club and it's fan base. So for me the more ideas that atr thrown into the pot, the better the outcome may be. On another bent what about this team:- 1. BEN BARKER 8.91 2. ZDNEK HULIUB 5.00 (assessed) 3. EDUARD KRACMA 7.00 (assessed) 4. JORGENSSON 7.08 5. Jack ALLEN 7.00 (assessed) 6. ALEX EDBERG 3.84 7. DAN HALSEY 3.00 should be 41.
bigeddiechek
It's fair enough putting debate and ideas forward. There are a small handful on here who are rather cynical. They don't help at all. I'm not saying not to be critical, you can always learn from that, but that is very different from having a dig, as some do. With the team, I like the idea of having at least a couple of new assets, risky, but always good to see new riders. I think Glasgow will see a lot from Berge and Palovaara this year now they have realistic averages.
BRITISHSPEEDPOWER
Dan Halsey on 3.00 could be worth a shot, 9.23 NL average, NL riders champion. If we need a 3 pointer.
Fromafar
Absolutely, and bring another 5 or 7 assessed with him, we will only be weak for 12 meetings. Sign the right riders after 12 meetings then we could really push on and finish strong. The time has come to take matters into our own hands re having first call on a few assets.I'm a bit confused with your theory, does the rolling averages not stop this from happening. If the assessed riders drop their average and you want to keep them who do you drop from the Team? Did Newcastle not try this with Danny King last year and it failed because they had to drop 2 riders to get 1 so called decent signing into the Team. Robinh88
beat michal makovsky by 3/4 of a straight in michals best ever season. Michal scored 17 points that night would improve his average of 4.

I am just taking the assumption, that the rule is correct, if he needs a visa then he comes in on a 7, Great if it can be fiddled so he comes in on a 5. If so you can look at arider up to 5.24.

Typical speedway rules nobody has a clear idea on this matter,or if the Promoters have ,they are not telling the fans as this has been under discussion on here for a couple of weeks. sparkafag
Doolan isn’t going to up his average again IMO. He isn’t going to be Kings Lynn Doolan again. He hasn’t been that rider for 5 years. He is however a very solid middle order rider, just because he has declined doesn’t mean that he should be discarded. If he could be fitted in at 3 or 4 he would still win a lot of races for a rider in that race jacket. I wouldn’t put money on him before the race but it wouldn’t shock me to see Doolan beat a lot of Number 1’s in the league around their own track (he could also throw in a couple of dodgy rides in the process) but a guy who can score 7 or 8 with a big race win thrown in is valuable. It is comparable to a lot of older riders over the years, not being the rider they once were doesn’t mean that they don’t have something to offer.
