Berwick 2015

Recommended Posts

it is happening on an all to regular basis. i have noticed it on the meetings involving berwick. especially at home meetings. its not just me who has noticed this... . race for 4 laps.... Berwick fans a getting a bit tired of his 3 lap cruise.

its not as if he is saving himself for another race.

You can't really defend Alex's retiring from races .He certainly has got good machinery. He has reach his level IMO.

Alex just doesn't care, he doesn't need money like other riders in our team does aka Coty

It is my understanding, Alex tries not to rely on his dad in normal racing, it maybe that his dad buys his equipment as sponsorship the same as many riders have sponsorship, day to day however he does not rely on his dad financially.

Someone who doesn’t care wouldn’t go the effort of stepping on a bike again after his crash against Rye House, that’s an absurdly harsh, and quite frankly daft accusation to level at someone who continues to attempt to build a career in the sport despite enduring the knocks and bumps he has.

Either way, I have brought the topic back to the top of the forum just to refresh everyone of that incident and remind themselves of how sickening it was, and just how much passion someone has to show to come back from that.

Just a recap of various opinions on the excellent Jorgensen: pre-season.

Well as far as my posts are concerned, what I said is roughly what has happened. Thomas started on 7.09 he is now 7,2, he cost the club a transfer fee and is not an asset, although an improvement only just. A new assessed 7 pointer woild have been an asset and may have done exactly the same. So thank you for pointing out I was correct in my assessment, I have no problems with Thomas however, he has fullfilled his role as a 7 pointer.

Agree with that, I think Edberg does care about his racing, but his scores have not been as they should this season or to be honest in his time over here, maybe he has reached his level. His constant retiring whilst last is very hard to accept, you would think every rider would try their best in every lap of every race.

wish It had been a transfer fee the club paid for thomas then he would have been an asset

To be fair Berwick`s second or third heat leader and second strings have done their job, in fact at times the likes of Doolan`s and Jorgensen`s scores have been more than expected. However poor scores from reserve positions have cost Berwick dear, also trying to cover for Vissing for to long also hasn't helped. Yes injuries have played their part, but Barkers scores wasn't exactly crash hot at times pre-injury and Berwick hasn't been served very well with guests, neither has R/R.

At this point in the season, you are correct, in terms of average.

I don't think there has been a transfer fee (to my knowledge at least).

I don't think describing him as a cast off was particularly accurate.

Whoever the team manager is at Scunny made a bit of a slip letting him go.

Thomas's last 7 scores: 11, 10, 16, 13, 11+2, 16, 14+1,

Not bad, eh?

It is pretty safe to assume riders wouldn’t want their scores to be “crash hot”, what an idiotic terminology to use when describing a speedway rider.

His scores were impacted because he did “crash” early in the season and returned from it early, his form was gradually improving once he picked up race speed and he has been a huge miss.

I'm glad you noticed that, it's so hard going with a certain poster.

You are quite right, though, Ben rode a few meeting with a broken hand, then had early season machinery gremlins.

He still produced good scores and plenty of his trademark racing.

He was just starting to get his form and equipment spot on when he had his terrible crash at the British Final.

Barker and Vissing are a massive loss to us. It's to the rest of the team's credit that we are still mid-table and in the KO cup.

The manager at scunny didn't let him go he asked to be released because he wanted to improve himself.

He was approached by several teams and chose Berwick.

When I asked him why Berwick, knowing his form riding there he said, improving himself meant learning to

ride tracks he had previously had trouble with.

I think that says a lot about the mindset of this young man.

Ahhh, I see, that makes sense, thanks for that.

You can see how focused he is, and extremely talented.

I'm sure every Bandits fan wish it was a transfer fee and not a loan fee!

As said he requested to leave Scunny, and would probably have gone to Sheffield if other things behind the scenes had happened, it didn't som he came to Berwick. Cast offs was meant in general terms not really aimed at one rider in particular, as I said I dont have a problem with Thomas riding at Berwick, has has done the job. You didn't use a later statement where I said Dave Peat said he would do a good job at Berwick, and i said I put great trust in what Dave had to say, and would bow down to his more superior knowledge. Have told you before about being selective, and only choosing posts that suit your arguament.

274 pages on this thread has to be a record in its self!

What on earth will folk talk about next year if Berwick do not run?

As for the team.........well losing both heat leaders i do not know any other team that would be able to sustain that type of loss and massive credit to Jorgensen and Doolan both of whom have been riding as heat leaders, R/R has failed yet again, proving over any period of time this does not work, and our guests have been pretty average, (although scoring very impressively at berwick when riding for the oppostion).

Reserve again proving key in being able to win meetings, just look at Matej Kus's scores last season, aint rocket science!

Sorry Taffy, I will try and do as I am told by you in the future.

Just like everyone else does.

The injuries really did hit us, glad we brought in a new signing for r/r, young rider with potential too.

Guests are always less than desirable too, but with the injuries this year, and less riders due to stupid visa rules, there hasn't been a lot of choice.

Matej Kus, last season was excellent.
