Berwick 2015

Recommended Posts

Depends who we get in the semi-finals

You've been watching them long enough to know they always fall away at the end of the season. 2005 being an example

Yeah edinburgh will be difficult to get past if we got them

Not difficult, impossible Edited by Shads

not holding my breath on Dick Barrie's new love child but I'll be happily proved wrong

Certainly hope he can cut it. The club has been urged to make a signing, they have done. Let's all back the boy.

Fernando's arrival at Berwick had nothing to do with Dick, by the way.

First contact he had with him was at Redcar on Thursday, Coty had been living in Berwick for ten days by then.

Certainly it.s worth a punt, but surely 2 other signings are needed aswell, even if on a temprorary basis to cover injuries.

not his job Edward, his job is to turn up every week with his £15 and he adds to that by helping riders through different ways of sponsorship, its the promoters/managers job to have a team for people to turn out and watch and support

I will 100% back Coty dont worry about that, I would never not support a rider without giving him a chance to be proven

Sorry about that, just the way the newsletter puts it across it seems as though Dick had a lot to do with the signing and was a sort of 'scout' if you like but fair enough if I have just merely mis-read the good newsletter that was issued last night

Magnus Karlsson? Kauko Niememen? Joszef Tabaka? Although I dare say there is every chance that these guys have probably rejected offers to return to these shores already.

Kauko has absolutely resisted all offers (from tracks with a LOT more money than the Bandits have available) to ride in Britain this summer.

Joe Tobacco hasn't quite got back to his pre-injury form (if he had, he's be at Armadale) and has quite a few continental commitments.

Don't know Magnus' situation this year, but can't believe he hasn't been asked by several UK clubs and declined. Again, if he's turned down bigger money, Bandits are unlikely to be able turn his head.

However, it is refreshing to see reasonable, constructive suggestions being made, and for this you must be commended.

Thank you! There have been some frankly ridiculous suggestions made on this thread and others.

My assumption is that the likes of Sheffield and Peterborough would have already made approaches to these riders to replace Simon Stead and Olly Allen.

how about Joseph Franc? Matt Tres? James Wright? not for Barker but all would of possibly fitted for Claus or Hynek?

Would Pepe and Tresserieu not be involved heavily with Longtrack?

Yes they are but so is Richard Hall so I dont see why it should effect their chances of getting a team place, when Richard signed for us he said that Berwick had helped him work out his own fixture list and had helped him so that he missed as little amout of meetings as possible, Pepe and Matt are absolute track specialists around Berwick who have experience on every prem track as well

The club would have certainly re-engaged Pepe in a heartbeat, but examination of his continental commitments (not all the kind that allow a facility in his place) mean he would have missed far too many Bandits' meetings.

The same is true about Matt T, with the further problem of his not being an asset.

James Wright hasn't raced (other than the odd outing in 'fun' meetings) for a couple of years now, having retired during 2013 because, I believe, of the effects of a couple of nasty concussions. However, he would still carry an average -- even after reductions -- far in excess of Hynek's, and I'm not sure if he could be seriously considered as any kind of replacement for Claus.

But thank you for making reasonable suggestions.

thanks for the reply, James Wright was a mere suggestion as he is one of few riders on a 'top 5' average available, it must be a hard job to find riders mid way through the season to be perfectly honest, damn you injuries!

2002 another example against the iow

I'll have to ask B4e about that, I can't remember that far back. Last year was a disappointment after a really good start and middle. Ran out of steam when it mattered

Reasoned proposals, reasoned responses, is this really the Berwick thread? :-)

Good to get some background

Someone has obviously hacked Crescent Girls account!!

Very fair point you make there. Must admit Tresserieu is a rider I would have loved to have seen ride at Berwick every week

Another rider I imagine will have been approached is Linus Eklof. Don't believe he has ridden over here for some time. Nikolai Klindt as well although I believe he is injured just now.

Both Eklof and Klindt are two others 'unnatached' that could do a job, although the man who every Berwick fan wants is our hero, the one, the only Sebastian Alden!
