bigeddiechek
Yes, in a 26 week period April to Sept, allowing October for any rain offs, 24 home matches and 24 away matches, leaves you with 2 weeks spare and October. Just reminding you what you said Upturn, ask the ordinary working guy who on average is £2,000 worse off per year since 2010. Main problem the minimum wage has become the normal wage, especially in retail. Bring on a 'Living Wage' of £10 per hour. I do remember what I said, but thanks for consolidating my thoughts! I agree completely with your living wage. I too would like to see a more consistent season without the breaks, league being the consistent bedrock, the rest as "nice to have". To be fare to Berwick Speedway they have kept the price at £14, which is well below the average, maybe that is a mistake, as keeping the price down has not increased the gate, which as Heppy said some weeks only 400/500 attending. Would a league winning team improve the crowds greatly?

Not neccesarily, I think most fans want to be entertained, good close racing, on a well prepared track, I don't think Berwick fans can be so shallow, that winning is the only way. I certainly don't mind losing to a better team on the night, as long as our riders have ridden their back sides off trying.
Robinh88
Our most successful rider since Richard Knight made 2 passes all season obviously being Rymel in 2008. Maybe it is all about getting the right balance. I feel if we signed 7 trappers we would fare much better domestically however would the racing be any better? Would meetings be as contented as they were in 2009 when we had last heat deciders every week. Doolan Kus nice fellas but I feel to get people back through the gate we need to think outside of the box. Certain meetings Steen Jensen was very entertaining admittedly

Certain meetings Steen Jensen was very entertaining admittedly Jensen was a good reserve, struggled heavily at certain tracks, see no improvement in him after that. Kus is a handy heat leader, you might see a small increase in him perhaps 0.5/ 1.0 +.. Thats why I suggested Eduard Kracma, an exciting young rider with bags of potential. Like you said riders like Doolan and Wethers, thouroughly nice guys, but they are what they are, and because of that I would not have signed them for 2014 never mind 2015. StevePark
So, assuming 13 teams come to the tapes in 2015, you reckon 48 matches in the league next season? Good luck with that one. Yes, in a 26 week period April to Sept, allowing October for any rain offs, 24 home matches and 24 away matches, leaves you with 2 weeks spare and October. What you may be overlooking though, that is 20 more meetings for those who are riding in 3 leagues. That's a lot to ask, when you consider some riders are complaining they are tired by the end of August. Also, some clubs failed to complete their fixtures this season! I just don't know if I would hang all of my hopes on Krcmar at Number One... Top Top riders are hard to find, they are out there but how commited they are going to be is another matter

I am one of those who don't like the double up rules, you either ride EL or PL or NL. There is a case to allow a NL rider to double up at reserve in the PL, or a PL rider to double at reserve in the EL, but certainly not be riding in all 3 leagues. agree with all of that.. I just don't know if I would hang all of my hopes on Krcmar at Number One... If you remember I had Barker at No1

topsoil
To bring in new fans at Berwick the entertainment around the racing has to improve as well. There needs to be thought given to either filling in the gaps between racing with either better music, interviews or some other form of distraction, or reduce the time between races and fill the night in with more races, be it in the form of a junior meeting or second half racing.

Not there to listen to music, but a quick turn over of racing , the minute race is over 2 min and next race, this would allow more time for 2nd half, excluding accidents of course. Curfew at Shielfield is a big problem, but more efficient running of meetings by the referee should be achievable.

YAMYAMBANDIT
This is providing we find a sponsor and will be running next season. I always look at a sponsor as a bonus, the icing on the cake. If you can run the club on a break even basis at least, then sponsorship should provide that little bit extra, another bonus is a supporters club adding to the pot, but should not be there for the purpose of balancing the books, it's there to help riders when they run into trouble or those unexpected things that happen beyond the normal running of the club.. Peter Waite ran the 1st two or 3 years with no sponsors, some of the others were only a name on paper no real money, Kirkland carpets and 3 Mobile spring to mind.

screm
I've too much integrity to go into detail, other than to say I can't wait until the season gets underway! You`ve got to many insecurities so thought a bit of attention seeking would see you look more important. To bring in new fans at Berwick the entertainment around the racing has to improve as well. Reducing the time where possible, and get an extended time for a junior meeting and/or practice gets my vote. To many times we are sitting with no bikes on track, no track work being carried out, and no, it seems, reason why we cant get on with the action. That would be down to the referee in most cases, and its a problem speedway wide and not just Berwick but it does seem that when there`s a will to do it we can.

Here, if I had any insecurities I'd only post my opinions on here rather than in real life Like I have said, I'm looking forward to next season. I'm excited, and I guess I could post on here the details, but that would just be vulgar.
