Best Speedway Track In The World?

Interesting that you choose those two before the OTA Halifax.

The OTA is so Overrated as a Race Circuit it is so much FTG its not real, its just a roundabout ,no straights , the bikes broadside up the straights into a bigger broadside on the bend ,I just dont see the attraction, unless your your a somerset supporter, gate and Go

Sweeping bends and short straights make good racetracks IMO, as Somerset & Peterborough testify. I'm sure there are boring races because the Rebels are a very good team and won't be caught if they trap but its a track which offers so many lines, a bit like Scunny.

My favourite five are Scunthorpe, Plymouth, Somerset, Peterborough & Mildenhall.

If I had to choose it would be Scunthorpe from Plymouth.

I actually think that the overall standard of racing has got better this season. Places like Glasgow, Redcar and Belle Vue have really upped their game - Glasgow v Plymouth, for example, was one of the best meetings I have seen this season, and that's on a track not recently renowned for entertainment.

Sadly - and I won't name them - there are still those places that could be a lot better than they are.

You sound like my pals from Plymouth (who on least one occasion had their words rammed down their throat, as Pirate Nick would confirm).

Its a lot better than that and still one of the best even if its not quite as good as it used to be.

The OTA gate and go? I have to ask you the question, have you actually been there?

Not this year but have been several times in the past, have not been excited about the racing I would not make comments about a track i've never seen, a group from Newport Went over This year and Vowed never to go back due to the lack of racing.my preference is for Technical Tracks where riders have to use the throttle.

Yes I'm with you on enjoying technical tracks. However the big fast tracks ensure a different technique and in my opinion, plenty of courage.

The racing at the OTA this year has been first class with numerous passing in almost every meeting. The Newport fans you mention must have attended a meeting that I didn't perhaps.

Interestingly, the OTA gets good press from a large majority of riders and Referees, so there must be something in that.

Being an ex Newport fan, I've been to Somerset near enough every week. Some races have been absolute belters. Below are some videos I've recorded from Somerset this season. Apologies in advance for the naff quality :P

In my opinion having attended both plymouth and somerset a number of times this season the ota is definately faster but far less entertaining than the sba much better more exciting racing at plymouth for sure

I too have been to both tracks lewy and agree that the OTA is faster. The SBA is a terrific little track which provides some super racing with often all 4 riders very close together.

Somerset is class - wasnt a fan on my first view visits

Seeing iversen and watson blitz the opposition away over there in 2003 , roaring to a combined 5 out of 6 maximums in 6 meetings, was superb.

Zetterstrom pure class there too
