peterborough daz
We need to hear the long term plan for the club
yahoho
They should of put up half of the required money at least - whats the difference between them running it and your average joe? Anyone could come on here demanding 40k to keep the club alive for a season!!! There is no difference, thats the point. They have actively encourage anyone else with the balls to step forward and take it on - but guess what, no one has! Not a single one of you who have made negative criticism similar to that above have had the guts to step forward and throw yourself into the pit. Whether they have put any of their own money in or not is not important, what is however is that they are forming a company to take panthers on and trying to secure financial backing to do so.
Crump99
this is what gets my goat up rodders asks a fair question and people turn the post on him they probably do put a lot of time in but some fans put a lot of money in .....so Trevor has been at panthers for years and takes nothing out the club ???? It may be a fair question but is it relevant? Even I'm not sure that it is. If it was a new broom with new ideas and a vision (such as Martin Rogers, Oakes & Easter, Colin Horton & Rick Frost when they first arrived at the EoES) then Rodders etc might be more positive with it all, but it's not which might be more of an issue for some? We arnt talking buttons here, its thousands of pounds. You cant expect to start a risky venture and for others to pay for it surely?? Then pay for it again on a weekly basis. All it needs is a bit clarity and communication, after all if they arnt putting in, they have nothing to lose and everything to gain, im sure they will be though.
Pinny
Well they have nothing to lose - if peterborough speedway goes bang mid season they have lost no money at all! What takes balls is the people putting their money in! Its like giving someone 40k to walk into a casino with - if they leave with more than 40k everyones happy, if they lose all that 40k they wont care as its their money. Every single person should be signing a contract that if within say three years the club folds, they get their money back. Youve got a main sponsor of a couple of riders and a team manager forming a promotion - does this ring any bells of another former PL club that is no longer around? Sorry but the whole venture sounds a disaster and even if i was a peterborough fan who ha donated money - id want a guarantee that the club wont be folding come the end of the league cup!!
LagutaRacingFan
I'm pretty sure if the club run into some cash flow problems, Rick will help them out. His company has a net worth value of £10 million Edited November 13, 2014 by Morrissey Fan

TheScotsman
To be fair there are only 3 or 4 negative posters. Most of the positives are hopefully in the silent majority.
wealdstone
Because some have asked questions, want further information or are not entirely convinced there is a plan to achieve a sustainable long term solution, does not make them negative in fact it is rather insulting to suggest it. All want Panthers to continue but what many are asking is where is the plan to ensure long term survival and avoid having to ask for a bale out every year. It is self evident that lot more is required in terms of corporate sponsorship rather than donations from individual fans.

Tsunami
Pinstripe and arson It has no comparison at all to gambling and roulette. In gambling all you see is someone make lucky money or lose it. With donations from supporters and sponsors within their ability to give, they are giving others, who are prepared to put their necks on the line and run the gauntlet from others, an attempt to set up and maintain a speedway team, so that others can support and pay to see it. Don't think personal profit or gain as there is non in speedway, right. It takes a brave man to pick up and run a speedway team. Given the abuse and knocking some promotions get, one wonders why anybody does it. Remember I have been there, and we did not have a track in place when we opened in 1997. It cost me, I never made a penny out of it as you know, but I still sponsor and put time and money into it. WHY, Cos i want to keep speedway going at Newcastle. If Peterborough or any team closes it's doors, everyone and their dog knows what the promoters should have done with their money and time, to keep it going. When it happens next, let's look to see if the critics have made a contribution to it's closure. It's not always down to bad promoters that speedway closes.
proud panther
I have only missed 3 meetings in the last 8 years, & have followed Panthers away numerous times. If the new promotion had said that they were putting £20k in each & were looking for the fans to match it, I would be very interested in putting some money in. To ask for money with no mention of any personal investment is a bit of an insult to my intelligence, in my opinion.

Surely you either outline that project, predict and assure that their input will be wisely used... Its like me saying dave will you put 40k in and i will do the rest?? Anyone would at the first instance want to know what i was putting on the line or risking, its only natural... Now if i say dave ive got this project thats close to both our hearts, this is what i want to do, it will cost 40k can you and i pay half each you are much more likely to see my commitment.... Because i have something to lose and im far less likely to walk away than i am if im paying nothing. I dont think for one minute that this is the case, but fans coughing up are entitled to know what the management have on the line. No?? Me starting my own business, and running it my way while you paying for it is a recipe for disaster.
hans fan
I really can't see why Mr rathbone is having a bit of a moan about some posts on here ( most people know without him it was highly unlikely panthers would have seen out last season)
