Peterborough Panthers 2015

Recommended Posts

Have to say I'm bemused and a bit perplexed by this talk of team changes - who exactly are you all thinking should be dropped from the team?? Obviously you can only bring riders on a lower average and I don't see who is out there and available to do a better job than who you have!

This talk about Ben Barker is amazing, good luck to him after his horrendous crash and injury but to bring him in you would have to drop Ostergaard, and unless info is wrong and he is out for the season his relationship with your promoter and the fans means that is never going to happen. Only other option is to replace Lambert and coming back from his injury Barker willnot score the points you could get from the vast range of guests eligible to stand in. Yes it may be better to have a regular team rider but it would (imo) definitely weaken your team.

So - who is going to get dropped??

Not that much choice as guests now at number 1 with so many injured or average to high.

We do need to find more heat winners. For 2016 I think our main target should be a top number 1 like Danny King

For what it's worth i would have moved Lambert on weeks ago.

Why?

He's a class act and is our best/most popular rider.

If continues to progress and the support around him becomes more professional then he could turn into a real top level class act, and probably will. He seems to have the skills and speed required, just needs to make sure that he has the complete support package, knuckle down and not get lost in the hype that will continue to grow.

As to the second part, I'm still waiting for your definition of this:

ROBERT LAMBERT, HE'S ONE OF OUR OWN

I'm sure that Lambert would be well pleased if he knew that you were on his case. That has all the credibility of being called Panthers supremo :D

So the changes are just the 28 day replacements??

That does make a bit more sense - to be accurate you have your top two men out

Actually mate Ask any Panthers fan..Simon Lambert is one of our top 3 for sure this year..he has won us a lot of points.

Every rider runs the risk of injury and therefore misses meetings I think the real issue centres around the non return from the WTC that sticks in the fans minds , if he had comeback and ridden he wouldn't get no criticism from Panthers fans, im sure if he had not returned and missed a match for Lynn then there fans would feel the same, would like to see him return as hes certainly the best young British rider for years but cant see it now unless theres alot of discussions to resolve the issue's from both sides

Apologies - I didn't realise your posting was based on opinion not facts

Lukas' post was indeed based on facts. Simon Lambert is easily one of the "top" (i.e. best performing) three riders in the Panthers team this season.

And that, oh snidey one, is not just an opinion; it's a fact!

Well yes, but many (most?) of us Panthers fans feel like we've repeatedly had kicks in the wotsits from Lambert, the non-return from the WTC being the worst example. That defeat was largely down to him - and it ain't the only one. Even though RL is undeniably a huge talent we just never get the feeling that he's one of us. Far from it; we all know he won't look twice at Panthers next season and it feels like we're being used.

Ged Rathbone has back-pedalled a bit from his initial comments criticising RL for his stupid irresponsibility last week (his ma has probably been bending Ged's ear!), but stupid irresponsibility is exactly what it was. Jason Crump wouldn't have done it when he was the same age. It should have been a nailed-on 5-1, making the score 33-27 and therefore a very good chance of beating the Monarchs again. That's unarguable - and that makes TWO meetings meeting we've lost that's down to RL. .

It would be nice if Lambert came out and admitted his mistake and apologised for costing us so dearly. He could even promise to do his level best for Panthers during what's left of the season. That might build a few bridges with the Panthers fans who, like me, are becoming increasingly disenchanted with him.

Firstly there was no sarcasm in my post, if Lukas’ opinion based on his viewing of Panthers performances was that Simon Lambert is one of your top three riders, fair enough. That is what my posting was aimed at and with a genuine apology, however, as is your usual style, you felt the need to weigh in with a personal insult against the poster, I’m afraid that says much more about you than me!

As to opinions and facts, statistics can be portrayed to represent a variety of views, but as speedway is regulated on riders’ averages that would be the obvious measure of a riders performance. Panthers’ website shows Simon Lambert is actually the fifth best performing rider of your current team in 2015.

And that, oh clever-dick, is not an opinion; it’s a fact, easily verified!

The lack of meetings he's turned up for had narked us panthers off more than Sunday. The meeting after the gb meeting and then pulling out of the 4's at the last minute along with others.

A good talent yes but it'll go to waste without proper advice

I was under the impression he turned up to the 4's with his bikes, but was told his services were not required
