mudflaps
DECISION TIME FOR PANTHERS PETERBOROUGH supremo Ged Rathbone admits the club face a major dilemma after seeing number one Olly Allen ruled out for the rest of the season.Allen's ankle injuries, sustained in a crash at the East of England Showground against Rye House at the end of March, are more serious than first feared.Rathbone described the loss of his figurehead as 'a crushing blow' and now faces a tough decision over the best way to replace him.Panthers have successfully used guests in recent meetings but may now need to make a permanent signing with the 2015 campaign still in its infancy.Rathbone said: "We were adamant that we wanted to build a team around a proven number one at Premier League level and Olly was that man.“He showed last season in his visits as an away rider that he could be close to invincible around the Showground."It was a dream move for all parties as Olly was our top target and he could not have been more excited about returning to the club where he started his career."Olly remains part of the Peterborough team and will be present at meetings whenever his injuries and work commitments allow, and it goes without saying that I would love to see him back on track in Panthers colours in the future."Moving forward we now have to plan for the rest of the season and we have some big decisions to make."We have been able to call on some very good guests since Olly was injured and we could consider continuing down that route."We have also searched high and low across Europe for a potential number one signing and have so far drawn a blank."We are in constant dialogue as a management team and at this stage we are still considering our options."We are also very aware of what happened last season when new signings were brought in and it didn't work out as anticipated."Panthers don't return to action until next Thursday (April 23) when they travel to Redcar for a first Premier League meeting of the season. They complete their Premier League Cup Southern Group fixtures at Somerset the following night.Their next home action is against Rye House in the league on April 26 when the new 5pm start-time will be introduced. http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/news.php?extend.2445.2 Edited April 23, 2015 by Flyin Panther

Alan_Jones
very harsh on MPT - unless true to his word he doesn't want to do the full season.. The story in today's Speedway Star quotes Rathbone as having spoken to MPT about a contract extension, which he would be be happy to accept, but it's just one of several options being considered. Lurcher
If we go Todd in the team and Adam at reserve it would put a lot of pressure on Robert Lambert to keep banging in the points at number 1. Also what sort of bikes would Todd have as was not expecting to ride this season. Still think I looks a good side and should be okay for the playoffs. On other threads talk of Bradley Wilson Dean looking for a pl spot. Could a shuffle fit him in. Looks a real talent Edited April 23, 2015 by Lurcher
