TheScotsman
I wouldn't be too relaxed. If it stays pear shaped, there may need to be changes across the whole league given there are probably not 20+ available riders of suitable strength. So points limits might need to be changed and fixtures possibly redrafted.

Well, if any team that built a mainly British/EU team gets screwed over because of this, i will be done with the sport..

Crump99
stand by for the 6 man teams scenario. We're used to that. It's a 5 man team that could grind the gears a bit further.

CardinalSin
Catch 22, have you paid the £20 into the Ricky fund yet ?Having spoke to somebody from the club directly a few weeks ago about this topic when it was raised on here, and it's a delicate issue that really needs dropping, I'm sorry but it's YOU proud Panther that needs to be paying £20 in to the Ricky fund. I'm afraid you're wrong on this one.
em1500uk
Not posted here in a while! Good to see that the admission prices have been frozen for this year Upon looking through the fixtures, I'm personally quite happy to see a fair few meetings going ahead on a Sunday late afternoon or early evening. Works a treat for me! Good to see that bank holiday Mondays are also back as there didn't seem to be many, if any, used as fixture dates last year. They also work well for me! As for the Friday dates that are used, because they're spread out a bit, asking to leave a little early from work shouldn't be much of a bother. All in all, I'm happy. I don't know about anyone else

You can't please everyone unfortunately, but Fridays and Sundays should help with attendances hopefully..

ZODIAK
Cardinal Sin, why does the subject need dropping ? If Ipswich own Lewis, I will gladly pay the £20, but I am still being told that it is Mildenhall. Probably because of the legalities of it all and the murky world of the "asset" system. Could it be that the rider is the asset of the man/promotion that done the deal, and that up until Chris Louis severed ties with Mildenhall, he was considered a Mildenhall asset and now isn't? In the same way, are the likes of Poole, Sundstrom etc etc Peterborough assets or assets of the previous promotion? If those riders ride elsewhere, do Ged Rathbone and Trevor Swales receive the loan fees or does it go elsewhere? It's a complicated issue and none of it I'm sure legal. Interestingly, just come across this press release when the "swap" deal came about, between Blackbird and Ipswich asset Oliver Rayson.. "Blackbird moves from King’s Lynn, with the Tigers’ Oliver Rayson going in the opposite direction. All three have joined their new clubs on full transfers. Tigers co-promoter Chris Louis said, “The last few days has been a whirlwind in the transfer market for us. Of course we are delighted that both Danny and Lewis have joined Mildenhall but at the same time it is a blow to us as management, and also the fans and sponsors at West Row, to be losing Oliver. It is always a balancing act when building a team but in our case it was made even more difficult by our 11th hour take over of the club.” Chris continued, “Danny joins us from Poole and is an important part of the Mildenhall jigsaw. He is a rider with immense talent and potential. We all believe that the set up at West Row will be just what he needs to progress. “When Lewis made the decision that he would be best suited to Mildenhall because of his locality and sponsors, he found it very difficult to request a move from King’s Lynn before a wheel had even been turned. It was his decision and we have always left it for him to make. “With my Ipswich connections we will always be looking to back up our squad and these are guys capable of doing just that at some point in the future.” http://www.lovespeedway24.co.uk/teams/mildenhall-fen-tigers/rayson_joins_lynn_as_fen_tigers_swoop_for_two_1_840349 Edited January 24, 2015 by Hong Kong Phooey
Steve Irving
Ipswich/Mildenhall/neither who cares. The important thing for Peterborough is that he isn't an asset of his EL club and won't be missing any fixtures. Good points made above though, the asset system is a nonsense that needs scrapping. There's been a few instances where riders were thought to be assets of a club, but were in fact assets of the promoter who was currently there at the time. One example was Steve Johnston from Somerset to Birmingham. Everyone assumed he was then an asset of Birmingham, when in actual fact it turned out he was an asset of Gary Patchett. All a bit confusing and has been said, dodgy. If you want a rider for more than a year and the rider is happy to stay for more than a year, agree and sign a 2/3 year contract. If a rider signs for a year then he should be a free agent on October 31st, and he should then be able to sign for whoever he likes the following year with no say so or financial benefit to anyone else.
