Yes as Rory is well liked by most fans, and been at most clubs so will have some followers so meaning less bums on seats.

Great way to start the season, just hope it's a strong gb side.....

Something like

Stead

Newman

Steve Worrall

Richie Worrall

Barker

Rose

On the flip side, should a club like Boro who are trying to run a business and get their fixtures in,worry because a rider is having a testimonial?? im not so sure

Not at all, the should run when they want and of course when the showground allow but IMO its in their interests to avoid clashing with Lynn as much as possible because of the people who do and will try to attend both tracks. If they are at different times of the day then great. Edited by Gordon Bennett

The grim reality is that Panthers are now second tier and most of those who are non committed will choose to go to KL, Leicester or even Coventry when there is a clash.

And before the one who has described me as a rotten apple responds, I have bought my season tickets ( at least sent the money) albeit I do not see them as value for money.

You have to factor in costs as well. All well and good having both meetings different times of the day, but most can't afford to go to both so will still choose one or the other.

I would love to do both, BUT would rather watch another Panthers away meeting.

Totally agree. - the days of fans attending 2/3 meetings on one day as I recall I and many others did in the 70s and 80s regularly are long gone as it's too expensive. I live 35 mins from one track and 40 from the other - its sheer stupidity for Lynn and Boro to be in competition with each other for punters on the same day especially at the beginning of the season when fans are keen for some track action.

I don't really see the issue. Those that only wanted to go to Peterborough still will, those that only wanted to go to Lynn still will. Those that wanted to do both still can. The cost for those that do want to do both meetings will be the same as if the meetings were run on two different dates. In fact it will be cheaper for some of those now as there will less travel costs.

It happens Good Fridays which are still popular.

But going to two on the same day is a very expensive day out, especially if you're taking the kids. Going to one, one week, then another the following week when you've received another pay cheque is easier to manage.

Your other point doesn't make much sense either. If you can only afford to do one meeting on the day, then you're going to choose one or the other.

There are I'm sure, Peterborough supporters who were planning to go to Rory's big day, who'll now not go and watch their team instead.

There'll be others who planned to watch Rory's testimonial, who still will and give the showground a miss.

It wasn't a case of "Those that only wanted to go to Peterborough still will, those that only wanted to go to Lynn still will. Those that wanted to do both still can" because until today there wasn't a choice to make.

Well if you think it makes sense for two clubs so geographically close to race on the same day that's your prerogative but you will never convince me! Oh and it will definitely be cheaper for me overall as I shall now only attend the Eoes meeting so that's less admission plus less travel costs whereas 2 separate Sundays for instance I would have been prepared to go to both. I have friends incidentally who are Lynn fans who tell me they feel the same ie: would have had a trip to Eoes to see us V GB on a Sunday when no Saddlebow fixture was occurring but are not prepared to do so now. Sadly it's not a case of everyone's a winner more a case of both tracks will lose out IMO.

I never said it makes sense and clearly it's not ideal, however I was just trying to point out that for those that would have done both separately can still do them both together.

I wouldn't have been going to Lynn regardless of the date or time so I'm pleased I will now be seeing some speedway that Sunday and looking forward to seeing the Panthers opening fixture.

gutted with the fixture list. so much for regular friday night race... there are more sunday afternoons than fridays. i work sundays so after 20years of going to almost every home meeting i guess i'll only be going to 7 this year :( (good job i didnt get a season ticket)

Suits some - not others.

I am surprised there are so many Sundays given there home night was quoted as Fridays, but I have to say I am pleased about it because it's a lot easier for me to get up the M11 on a Sunday than a Friday evening.

Certainly a lot of reserved dates in there too and they are in favour of Fridays by 8 to 4, so the end of season total of race days might be about equal.

You are another rotten apple as is anybody who does not see that Ged and Trevor are paragons of virtue and above criticism.

I don't work Sundays but don't fancy 3pm Sunday at all. Luckily I didn't buy a season ticket either.
