ch958
If a promotion paid £75 a point they would need £6750 plus for points money A crowd of 600 paying £15 entrance would achieve £9k before expenses and programme sales. Paying riders 'premier league football' wages when crowds are 'non league' size is unsustainable. how about 50 a point and we pay 11/12 quid in
a4poster
I have read many of these posts with interest and for what its worth I would like to throw this idea into the ring. I think genuine Speedway fans do not wish to see any tracks close so uppermost must be the commitment to ensure they stay open. Firstly I would set up a fortnightly super-league on a set race night like some Clubs are indicating they want - those Clubs are saying this would attract many of the top riders back to this Country. This would have to be a proper 'Elite' league not watered down like the current product - then allow the Elite sides in the top league to adopt Squads. (Also, have an individual competition where each Squad member must compete in two events - one on there home track and one on a Elite away track that is drawn to find the 'King of the Elite' - this would replace the ELRC) - This with a couple of additional meetings would give them 12 - 14 meetings. Current 'Elite' league Clubs who still wish to run every week would then have two options; Option one would be to go into the newly formed 'super-league' and have a team in the National League for alternate weeks if they still feel weekly racing is advantageous. Option two would be to go into a revamped 'Premier League' that would consist of the better supported Clubs with the remainder of the current 'Elite league' sides and any teams from the 'National League' that wish to step up forming a league of 14/15 teams. The remainder of teams would then form the 'National League' with any 'Elite League' sides who still want weekly Speedway - this would then create a league with sufficient fixtures to avoid 'filler' meetings and seeing the same teams. Throw in a Cup, 4 Team Tournament, 1xIndividual meeting, 1 or 2 Challenge matches, Plays offs and each league should have a number of meetings that suits there criteria. As I said earlier, just throwing the idea into the mix. Also, I have no bias as my team ceases to exist!!
