The Decline Of British Speedway

Recommended Posts

Yes fair anough i know riders who could of done the same, but to be world champion and ride at that level a different kettle of fish. I can name at least twenty riders who would of achieved more on better stuff but we could say that throughout the decades.

You are joking? the difference is and always has been over the generations is the consistency element are you telling me NOW there are not six stand out stars for you.? i presume most of us would agree on at least five of the six.?

And tell me, which of those five or six had inferior equipment.

You only have to look at the last GP as a perfect example. Jarek Hampel had the setup perfect and romped to a 21pt maximum. He's been dire in the rest of the series. Troy Batchelor another classic example.

Part of the art of being a successful speedway rider is the ability to set up your bike correctly.. you also need more and more nowadays to have the right team behind you who can assist in this aspect.

An average rider riding spot on equipment will beat a good rider on poor equipment the majority of the time.

Nicki Pedersen for example.... talent wise, is he one of the best?? Many would say not.. but he has always had immaculate equipment and often had the setup perfect.

Great cant dispute what you have said, fairplay to you but you have not answered my question? can you not name your top six riders in the world NOW?are they not the best pretty simple really.Whatever six you pick are they there for a reason they have the results in the bag.

I think your logic is flawed,Hampel has been a class rider for years he has struggled but he will never be a champion anyway.Pedersen for me shows me you are so wrong i dislike him as a rider but you can't tell me he was not talented? Others in my opinion were more talented (ie)Adams and others but achieved less. Edited by sidney

I have no idea what you are saying Sidney. You seem to have contradicted yourself over and over in that post.

Pretty simple really do you not have a top six in the world???you have never answered that.??Those six whoever they are in your view have they done it? Form and CONSISTENCY yes or no.? Edited by sidney

Top seven in the world this season greg tai darcy kk emil nki pedersen. I'd say of those all have had good equipment, exception tai in the el. Nicki seemed to have some issues early in the season. Emil seems to be flying of late. Would seem to prove the point that machinery is important?

Aquipment has always been important in any era, Tai has he prioritised other leagues never bothered me he only averaged 7.50 plus in our Micky mouse league pocket money for him and for me i would jack it in far more hassle than it is worth.

Tai had to commit to UK speedway this season as British World Champion!! As that will no longer be the case in 2015, plus the fact that the sport at EL level doesn't seem to want to go to Mondays only, I don't expect Tai to compete in the EL next year.

Perhaps both HE and WE should wait and see what pearls of wisdom the BSPA come up with for next Season at the AGM.

They may come up with a Plan that will bring all the GP Riders back to Britain.

They probably won't - but - you never know. It doesn't pay to be premature.
