flagrag
No Gemini what I was hearing on Monday was he was so annoyed with it all he was thinking of closing it altogether hopefully that was some just short term disappointment and that he will focus and look at how the club moves forward. We do not need any more clubs closing down especially ones like Leicester which are purpose built and get good crowds. It's obvious that some on here and at the track do not like Mr Hemsley but deep down how many really want the club to close and the track to be lost again. Anybody who thinks DH will go and another promoter will walk in will be very disappointed as he will not just operate the stadium it would be buy everything or nothing.
mdmc82
Really hope that was just him saying it in the heat of the moment as can't afford to lose anymore clubs 😞
Phil The Ace
He said emil turned them Down yesterday. And are trying to persuade another rider to return to these shores. It was a good interview in what DH was very open. Got to feel for him. Hope he doesn't give up.
wandersome
As i mentioned a couple of pages ago, If Flagrag is to believed, then surely DH is in a bit of a catch 22 if his threats actually are to close the speedway completely. If DH just shuts down the speedway then the speedway's landlord would surely still be liable for the costs of council rates on the sports complex (including the bar/pub bit) but it would just have no revenue stream at all (except maybe for the bike training people). I cannot believe the rates are that cheap that the landlord would be happy to be in that situation. The speedway's landlord is the Beaumont Park complex owner which as far as i am aware is the self same DH is it not? I would guess if DH didn't pay his rates he would then be in breach of his lease for the complex so would have to pay or lose his lease. So I'd then guess he'd either have to come up with an alternative revenue stream for the land that complies with his lease (which he so far appears to have failed at sincethe complex's inception), take a hit for the rest of his life of paying the business rates on the site or else relinquish the lease and let someone else have a go. The issue would then be, i guess, whether the council would trust someone else to take over the lease as it is currently is, given the issues they may or may not feel they have had, or whether anyone would want to. Up to now he seems to have picked and chose to his advantage whether he is a landlord of the complex or just running a speedway within the complex but you can't always have it all ways.. or maybe i'm missing something here, which i don't doubt i'm fully capable of! Christopher Bcmma Cook
Bridger lets club down again shock horror! Lets hope his latest retirement is more permanant - hes much more suited to being bashed around a UFC ring than riding a speedway bike What do you mean by that? Gemini
Good question. Personally I wouldn't mind if there wasn't as I'd be quite happy with a 'lower standard' without the so called top stars, many of whom take the mickey by missing matches when they can't be bothered to come over here. Premier League racing would suit me fine thank you.
Pirates Of Poole
There could be an option for Darcy on the table at present, that would certainly help the team. Edited May 28, 2015 by Pirates Of Poole
weatherwatcher
From the moment I saw DH only Monday, he didn't look a happy bunny at all. No smiles, he went straight to the pit area, and I never saw him once mingle and talk to the crowd. He looked like he had the weight of the world upon his sholders. Not sure if they have the sort of money to bring in any real big names to the club. Lets face it, how many of those riding regular in Europe, want to or could even be entised to come and ride in the UK. Not many. Would be very surprised if we see another year in the EL. we will have to wait and see won't we. Can't see the club closing somehow. But wouldn't a drop down the PL again, just not show that DH had failed, to do what he always dreamed of, that is getting into the EL. Pirates Of Poole
I dont think Norrie is helping with his remarks in the press, if you were a rider being approached by the club and read some of those comments you would not be intereted. DH would do better to get someone in with abit of experience which will hopefully attract the right riders. The season would completely change with Darcy and Doyle at the top.

flagrag
Volty- You are correct that as lease holder Leicester Speedway are responsible for paying applicable business rates and taxes on Beaumont park. However if DH did decide that enough was enough he could hand the lease back to the council. At which point all the track fixtures and fittings would be removed and the site returned to a grass field. So once this happens that will be the end of it at Leicester unless another promoter wanted to build the stadium again which is very unlikely. This is of course just worst case scenario and hopefully DH will have calmed down and thought of the positives that he has got and tried to find a solution to the team problems. The suggestion of Darcy Ward is good but he can't apply for his work permit until 26/06 then has got to get one approved so you could easily be looking at August by which time most matches will be completed. They need to sign some support for Doyle and also get a replacement in for Walasek if he is out for 8 weeks

Pirates Of Poole
No and whats to say that isnt already done?! As long as DH actually asks Matt if he can talk to Darcy before hand, and not go straight to the rider I'm sure he could end up in the team.
Bagpuss
Just like Ford did with Miedzinski in 2012 I'm sure.
Pirates Of Poole
Yes and Matt should not of done that! He did not go about it the right way at the time. I think he has learnt now though, you can't have it both ways.
