weatherwatcher
You can't really read a lot into the points scores at the Ben Fund meeting. It was the first time or the first time in a long while that the Polish riders on the Lions team, that they had ridden over here. I think or at least hope that after they have managed to get some serious practice in and they get their machanics to set their bikes up, to the British tracks we will see some far better racing from them than we saw yesterday. It is early days and I think when the season starts there will be up and ready to take on the best of them.
LeicesterLion39
It depends on Wozniak. Polish League scores suggests a pretty tidy signing, Ben Fund meeting suggest not quite so tidy. Lets just hope Bees and Lions Polish signing just had off days as Polish form suggests both should be tidy signings. I dont read much into these early meetings but at least Wozniak wont be going back to Swindon blind next time so only time will tell

T.N.T.
While the Ben Fund meeting was more about brushing off cobwebs before the season, both Wozniak and Jamrog are Polish Division One riders and Wozniak is a much better rider tham Jamrog and both could score points but I will be suprised if Jamrog is still at Coventry by the time the SWC starts and possibly drop to the Premier League. Not too sure how Wozniak will do but there are some very good second strings about this year and every race will be tough for him and I would rate him overall as a rider not quite to the level of Nicolai Klindt so overall Leicester have a very good #1, two inconststant back up heat leaders. a promising second string and another who could struggle. Better than Lakeside, Swindon and Wolves ? ...... we will see but the other four look superior as they line up at the moment but Coventry are weakend not having Woodward or Bridger. weatherwatcher
Congratulations to Jason on getting the team captains slot again this year. I would not have thought that there would have really have been any second thoughts of having him captaining the Lions again. He did a great job last year, and he had his best year in all forms of the sport, it is good thing that they managed to get him to come back again this year and lets hope that they can keep him coming back for a few more years. He is the rider that all the others want to try and beat at home as he is the master of riding the Lions track and he is also hard to beat in most away meetings. Will be great to see if he can pick up his game even more this year. Lets hope so, also it would be nice to see him have the other members of the team, are going to do their part and back him up. That never really happened last season and at times he was leading a lone challenge. The team looks good, just hope given a meeting or 2, that they start to all pull in the same direction, and we have a team that is hard to beat, either at home or away. Should be a far better season than last year, lets hope, that we the Lions are at the top of the EL and not struggling at the bottom as last year. Given a few meetings I think they should all start to do well. Hope they don't prove me wrong.

Shale Searcher
Is there a Leicester v Coventry EMB Thread anywhere yet??
weatherwatcher
Mads was no more captain of the team than the Lions mascot. It was Jason that nearly always gave the after meeting chat sesions at the start line, the ones I heard Mads give he may has well just have gone home, because what he had to say was about the same as the way he rode for the best part of the season very badly. So yes Jason was the true captain and it was him that the riders looked to not Mads. He will take on the captains role, in the same way way he rides. With all he has and with all his heart. A rider how as a lot going for him this year and a few years to come. I think he will just get better and better.
Gemini
No wonder Mads got cheesed off at Leicester then. Captain of the team but Doyle took over the role with the other riders looking up to him not Mads and not even being able to give the after match talk to the fans. ......Shale Searcher........ Is there a Leicester v Coventry EMB Thread anywhere yet?? Don't think so. It's only a challenge match to blow off the cobwebs. I think I'm going to save my money for a trip to Peterborough on the following Sunday as Leicester and Coventry meet again in the E.L. two weeks after the EMB. weatherwatcher
Not a bad turn out for press and practice day. The new riders looked quite promising even if they did nearly end up coming to grief a few times before the track was graded it was like a ploughed field, with some real lumpy humps and ruts on turn one. Jason had a terrible time, don't know how long he has had his bikes over here. He could not get it started from out of the pits, then came to the start line and the bike just would not pick up and he went straight back to the pits. Will be interesting to see how they actually go in a meeting. Good luck to the guys. I even put a smile on DH's face when I thanked him for putting the slabs down from the disabled veiwing area to the toilets, all he had to say in reply was it always gets done in the end and we try to please everyone. fair play to him. From the looks of the signs by the gate, it looks like they have a new team sponser, it is Nylacast.com: Engineered Plastics & Casing Centralizers http://www.nylacast.com/But no mention of it on the website and I left before they said anything.
mdmc82
Hope the track will be sorted for tomorrow as last thing anybody wants is anybody getting injured esp in a challenge meeting.
weatherwatcher
It was not to bad after the tractor racked it over. At the start of practice it was very lumpy and they where really struggling at speed to take the first bend as it was trying to wrench the handlebars out of there hands. Even saying that it was not riding that welll, will nearly all the riders coming to grief on in between turns 3 and 4. Really impressed with the young Polish lad, but is starting will have to notch up a peg or two if he is going to be in the reconing at BP as he seemed to be very slow off the start line, went well around the track, but as we all know, unless you make the strat, then you end up at the back and stay there unless someone makes a mistake. Think they will make a good side after a few meetings together. Also top marks to the two blokes who spent all winter, painting the fence, all around the track. They deserve it must have been a thankless task, painting that lot inside and out.

lionstigersnotbearsohmy
So was there any evidence of any track improvement work over the winter months Weatherwatcher? Sounds like volunteers have been busy in other areas. Well done them.
weatherwatcher
From what I could see there have been no changes to the track at all. So just hope that they manage to get that bit extra out of it as they did towards the end of last season, looking at the practice laps today I would say we are in for some preety scary races for the first couple of meetings until the track settles down, it was very close to a number of riders having a nasty tummble most of the problems where at turns 3 to 4, which has always been the trouble area. So can't see much of a change in how the meetings shape up. Shame really because it good be a far better track with a few simple alterations. weatherwatcher
Yes it should be a couple of good meetings to get them settled before the season starts and to hopefully get the team to pull together and sort themselves out.
