TMW
I suspect that the delay in naming all riders (other clubs have to complete as well) is that Poole are waiting on the results of Darcy Ward's hearing on the 30th January - so don't hold your breath until then! I hope not. Lets not have a rider that would rather be somewhere else like last year. Lets have riders who haven't signed out of desperation or after thought

I think it's only Poole,Swindon, wolves & lions who are yet to name there full teams.

Big Al
The team should have been sorted out and named, quite a while ago, it would have at least have been nice to know on the Lions site a few pointers to who the last riders where likly to be even if they didn't actully mention names, they could have at least have given a few leads. It is the same every year, the Lions website fails to let the fans know about most things that are happening. Not just in the close season but all season long. Not a lot they can do if riders are lingering over making decisions. Leicester's just one part of a very large jigsaw puzzle and they cant be forced to sign you know!! And I doubt theres any riders signed up with the local JobCentres being strongly persuaded to sign for Leicester Lions. What about offering your services to DH, and get on a plane to Poland and negotiate a signing?
justathought
Is there a cut off date that all teams have to name their 1 to 7 by ?
Happy Hunter
Is there a cut off date that all teams have to name their 1 to 7 by ? This is all I could find in last season's regulations. Teams must declare their Team prior to the start of the Season. Changes must be made at least 72 hours before the Start Time of the Meeting at which it is intended to be used.
SteveLyric2
Is there a cut off date that all teams have to name their 1 to 7 by ? Usually the team announcements have to be made in full by end of February so that BSPA can confirm them (or otherwise) by the start of the season. SCB
Is there a cut off date that all teams have to name their 1 to 7 by ? In recent times we have had clubs go into the season without a declared 1-7 for a variety of reasons. So no, technically there isn't but I'd imagine the soon you do it, the more time you have to fix any issues.
lionking
Officially we started last season with only 6 riders because Jason Doyle didn't have a work permit & you can't declare a rider in your team if you don't have a work permit for him. Is there a cut off date that all teams have to name their 1 to 7 by ?

Shale Searcher
Also, don't forget, we have few assets yet, Poole av em all!! They wouldn't allow clubs to talk to them yet, except if fat Maud definitely wasn't gonna use em!!
justathought
I don't think filling the 7th rider place is much of a problem. The major concern is getting Jason Doyle's visa problems sorted out in time.
weatherwatcher
The visa issue is going to be one big problem for most of the teams in the EL and the PL if the UKV&L if they don't get their act together with the promoters, to get this huge problem that they seem to be making out of a simple issue. Can't be that hard for anyone to see that the Assie and American riders come over here year after year to do a job, then go home again at the end of the season, not dissapear into their freinds houses never to be seen again like some of the imagrants that come here. By the way doe's anyone know if there is to be a pre season practice day as other years as there has been no mention of it on the Lions site. robert72
Who would lions get if Doyle can't get a visa ? Not many riders of his quality about who wants to race in the uk.
weatherwatcher
No he would be a hard act to follow the way he rode last year at BP

Of course they'll be a press and practise day, when all seven riders are here..... And, if any riders visa is going to be in order, it's Doyleys! If nothing else, David Hemsley is thorough and likes his t's crossed and I's dotted......

Trouble is that when dealing with government bodies things tend to go at a snails pace. And we are talking about 30 odd riders applications that will need to be looked at again. Along with sponsorship certificates etc.

UKVI workshop is due to take place this Friday. So assuming something beneficial is achieved to the UKVI's satisfaction then Certificates of Sponsorship can begin to be re-issued to clubs and the visa application process can begin again. Hopefully there will be some sort of clarification statement from the BSPA/SCB after Friday's workshop.
TonyE
So Visa riders = no doubling up and no 'guesting'? Could make covering absences a little difficult across the top 5 especially when more than one meeting is held at the same time in an 8 team EL.
