B.V 72
just a reasonable question. There is a lot of speculation that Cookie will be riding at Leicester next season. I assume that he will be back at Edinburgh. If this is the case there are 3 clubs in the Premier league that ride on a Saturday night 2 of them are in the same L C group as Edinburgh so thats 5 Saturday nights that he could be missing.I don;t know if this is fact but i have read that Leicester want Friday as their alternative race night if so Edinburgh ride on Fridays so Cookie could miss most of your Friday home meetings.Plus Coventry and Lakeside ride on Fridays so he could miss 4 away meetings as well. So do you think that your promoter can work round this or is Cookie a no no ?.
lionking
You assume wrong . Cookie said in an interview when he guested for us that he felt a full time step up to EL was needed in 2015 but as we all know in speedway what is said & what is actually done are 2 different things . Also will Edinburgh be able to afford CC again i read that the promotion have had to take a massive hit in the pocket during 2014 due to a high scoring team on reduced crowds. just a reasonable question. There is a lot of speculation that Cookie will be riding at Leicester next season. I would think if Cookie does not get a place in Poland or Sweden then there is no chance that he will just ride the Elite league and drop the earnings from 30+ Premier league meetings next year be it for Edinburgh or one of the many teams that would love to sign him. I would love Cookie to stay with us.But i do hope he gets a team place in Europe(of which he seems to be finding it hard to do from all reports) and drops the Premier league its what he needs to kick on be it with Belle vue or Leicester Edited November 21, 2014 by B.V

jeffster
I read at the end of last year he had signed for a club in Poland ?? Stal Gorzow.... Not expected back at Edinburgh according to this article : http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/speedway/craig-cook-signs-big-money-polish-deal-1-3539368 Edinburgh Monarchs’ No. 1 Craig Cook has agreed a big-money deal to ride for Stal Gorzow in the Polish Ekstraliga in 2015 which could signal his departure from Armadale. Monarchs co-promoter John Campbell said the news had come “completely out of the blue” and told the Evening News: “Craig told me he had signed for them. I’ve had no involvement whatsoever and there is no reason why I should. “He texted me with the news and I replied ‘great’ and that is the only communication I’ve had. It’s all come completely out of the blue.” Cook, who is also rumoured to be on the brink of landing a huge personal sponsorship deal, had hinted that this could be his final season in the Premier League with Monarchs and has been under pressure from some commentators to move up into the Elite League and also find a berth with a club side abroad to widen his experience. Campbell added: “I was under the impression he was riding his last season with us anyway. He is ambitious and wants to move on.” With the Ekstraliga operating at weekends, it seems almost certain that Monarchs would find it difficult to include Cook in their team-building plans for next season, which could make it easier for them to retain the nucleus of this year’s squad. Campbell said: “I have worked round such things before, but I have not given it a second thought. I’m trying to win the league and the cup, that is the most important thing at the moment, I’m only interested in the Monarchs. If we decide that Craig will be in our team next year we will make every effort to make sure it happens. What Craig has done will not impact on us at all, and that is the only thing that counts.”

lionking
If you want a bigger laugh read his Facebook page , claims he wants to ride for a national league team so he is above being a mascot . My best memory was when the twins started half a lap behind him & both passed him within 4 laps This is best post I've read for a while. You are absolutely spot on,he has not improved one iota in 4 years. I'm fully behind kids giving it ago but when they make no clear improvement in 4 years but go round making comments like they want to ride national league & giving it the big i am on matchdays like he is someone important he sets himself up for a fall. Time for Luke to move over & bring the Thompson twins in, kids who actually have a future in our sport unlike Luke. you really are an arse " lion king" Why do people like you allways have to have a go at these kids.Lukes out there riding a bike, trying his best and then he get stupid comments from the likes of you, maybe he wont win a world title (how many did you win by the way), but hes out there having a good go.....these kids need encouragement not laughing at. Laughing at kids lack of progress?? How infantile. Time will tell if the lad moves forward in the sport. I wish him all the luck going. Of course, its so easy you could probably do better Got my own bike, and i know how hard it is. And generally half a lap behind in amateur meetings. Have a laugh at that as well why don't you.

flagrag
Lionking- I like the look of that proposed team you have suggested unfortunately I don't think it would be approved as it has 3 riders from the same club so when Sheffield are racing Leicester would have 3 guests and with Saturday racing there will be quite a few clashes. Also going to have some Friday clashes as well. Leicester appear but limited with FTR riders as cant use the following Garrity- Racing at Rye House Sats Newman- protected Kerr- Protected Blackbird- Really doesn't want to come back as hates track Auty- Can not get round Leicester So looks like it will be Roynon or Birks both have potential problems as have heard Roynon could be back at Workington which would rule him out and May have to choose between Birks and Bates especially if they have Steady back Edited November 22, 2014 by flagrag
