I can'y seem to get into Google Earth martin_1 but that nearby estate you mention (150 yards away from the stadium) will add support to the protestors cause unfortunately.

However, 8.30 to 9.30! how intolerant people are. As the housing estate is so close, if it affected the estate that badly, there would have been far more protesters, surely?

martin_1. Many thanks for the Google image. There are many nice people on the BSF - and others!!! I rate you among the former - the best.

Let's hope that things eventually work in Kent Kings favour. And, again, thanks for your help in regard to the image.

Reading the thread about silencers,it seems next years approved silencers will actually be 3db louder(which is a considerable even if it doesn't look it difference)and must cause more problems for some tracks.Seems the noise tests will be made whilst the bike is ticking over instead of at full revs which currently happens.Think this is bad news for the sport

There is also a very interesting thread that has received scant attention and deserves a look

I have read the opening thread, but a bit confused. Are we saying, at present, that if someone builds a house, near a site which is noisy, it is the responsibility of the operator at the site to soundproof the site? Bearing in mind the Mildenhall situation, it is probably the case.

You can't stop people being untruthful, particularly when it is in their interests to be so.

What you can do is expose them as liars - and if you do you inflict significant damage their on their case because their word can be shown to be wholly unreliable. That means its worse than worthless in that it actually strengthens your position.

Thats what ha[[ened at Milton keynes , the council came to observe a meeting but the weather was awful so it got rained off , the promotion aked if the riders could leave there warmups until a decision had been made , it got called off before the start so no bikes were started , next day the protestors were on to the council about the noise . council said therer was no noise this is a vendetta and granted 25 year planning permission , shame the B|SPA had to step in and kill the place off or it still coulc have been running today .

I see on Kent OnLine that Mr Cearns has said he will review the situation before deciding whether to appeal or not and that he needs 1000 people every week to progress.

I find the 1000 interesting, if you read the Speedway Updates the guy who texts every week always says its over that so should not be a problem !!! (although I have heard from people who go reguarly that they estimate its closer to 500-600, and sometimes less than that).

Difficult one for the club, a well promoted Kent club making the playoffs in its second season could make 1000 people per week although a later curfew would definately help.

Lets hope things are clearer for all the great Kings fans soon.

Fairly daft response...I know the town as I live there. The fact is the housing estate near to the stadium is NOT large and is surrounded by an industrial estate.

Equally daft response, if you're going to be pedantic about what constitutes a large housing estate I'll be pedantic about what constitutes surrounded... "to enclose on ALL sides; encompass"

Birmingham got planning permission thanks to the silencers,I wonder if this might affect them

At the end of the day, some people have complained. But then, there will always be complainers about something. It's a pity councillors don't work on the basis that if there are less complainers to no complainers, it can be passed! But that is not the way it is, sadly.

Think we have seen this in the past.It was only a couple of people who complained about Mildenhall and one track in Germany has had continual problems because of one woman, who strangely enough used to be a speedway fan!!!

I send the texts in for speedway updates, I base my estimations on experience of going to football there when it first opened and the attendances given back then. For the record the main stand usually looks half empty but what needs considering is there are 2000 seats in there. Now I estimate that around 120 stand on the terrace between the upper and lower tier, I always stand on the first turn terraces which looks literally empty but as sad as I am I counted 63 people in "our" section alone although this did include kids. So when you add to this the people who stand on the backstraight and the people who watch from the upstairs bar i think an average attendance of 1000 is pretty accurate.

Which is the sort of attendance most tracks can only dream about.

Teaboy - thanks for the explanation. As someone who worked on actual gate figures at Central Park last year from your description I would respectfully suggest you are a little high with your figures and from what I have seen and heard 800 is a good day at CP and some meetings have been down to 400-500.

I would also suggest if Mr Ceatns is saying he needs 1000 people to progress he currently doesnt have that yet.

As Martin_t says most clubs would love 1000 and that includes EL clubs.

However, whatevet the figures great to see the loyal fanbase at the club and long may it continue and lets hope the curfew decision can be overturned.

The crux in the appeal, according to a friend who is a Bromley councillor, rests with how many attending meetings are actually local residents and those from further afield. The council case will rest on proving, most likely, that those who attend are not local residents which would indicate that it is therefore LOCAL people most affected by ANY noise problems. I hope that makes sense?

For all that, IMO what has happened is nonsense and we must hope Kings can win any appeal.

Can understand councillors looking after their constituents, but surely that includes any local business that might benefit from say 3-500 people from outside the area spending money not only at the track but at petrol stations, cafes, fast food restaurants etc

Noise is becoming ever more important as has been linked to stress and other health problems and should be taken seriously
