DunRobin
Because thats the rules. The rules allowed a facility for a suspended rider. The rules don't allow one for a rider who is sacked. Didn't Wolves get a guest facility after Pawlicki was sacked after the deadline. The whole system is flawed, Poole get a guest facilty for their Pawlicki due to his "injury" but he is fit to ride on the continent. Wolves get a facility for Woffinden, who I know is a genuine injury but he still rode in the GP. Surely it should be the Track Doctor on the day who decides if a rider is fit to ride or not. Personally with Woffinden, he appeared to be in so much pain in last Saturday's GP, it would be debatable whether he was not a danger to other riders! What level of control, does he have during a race? I admire his courage but doubt whether it is in his or the other rider's best interest for him to ride with this injury.

WOLVERHAMPTON have reluctantly cancelled the contract of Polish star Piotr Pawlicki after his latest withdrawal from an Elite League meeting. Wolves chief Chris Van Straaten took the action after receiving several messages on Monday morning stating Pawlicki would be unavailable to race in their home match against Leicester. Van Straaten said: “Enough is enough. It’s just not fair on the team, the promotion and most importantly the supporters. Gafurov failed to turn up at Reading and Swindon opted to use rider replacement - effectively sacking Gafurov in the process as it was near the end of the season. I don't know the exact situation with Pawlicki, but it's always a bit of a grey area when you get to the "did he fall or was he pushed" scenario. I guess Mads can't be seen as withholding his services because he rode again after the meeting he failed to turn up to.
Starman2006
It matters because if you can pick an easier team in the semi then you have more chance of being in the final and swindon v poole would be the best, closest final in my opinion but if poole don't win the league we will probably have to play swindon in the semi. AND assuming you get to the final, you get the second leg at home. Makes a big difference commercially and advantage wise.

Joe Beevers
It would appear that both Pawlicki's have turned their back but from watching documentation such as Tai's, I don't really think a lot of young european riders really know what they sign up for with the amount of commitment needed to ride in the British league. I wouldn't want to travel from Poland to Uk to Sweden back to the UK in four days. No wonder more don't quit halfway through the season. That sounds like sacking in my language, I agree that he was at fault but then again so was Mads, These doctor's notes are becoming a farce. Every season Mad's performances tail-off towards the end of the season. I'm sure that's why Swindon let him go, imo he doesn't spend any money on maintaining his equipment towards the second half of the season. Agree think Wolves sacked him, didn't see any mention of Sweden in the club statement I see. Also agree regarding Mads, the seasons he spent at Lynn he would be pretty damn good early/mid season and a gradual decline as the season wore on. weatherwatcher
After looking at the teams scores from The other night against Poole, I still fail to understand how the likes of Newman and some of the other Fastt Track Riders have been allowed to remain in a reserve position. He is regllary scoring 12 plus points a meeting and they are using him not just in reserve but to ride as a RR against the other 1 to 5 riders. I think this matter should have been resolved half way through the season when it was shown that these riders where a step above the other and have been moved up from reserve to the main team. Just hope they give it better thought for next year if they keep it going. Can't see why they won't, but if riders are proving they are better than just riding as a reserve they they should be given a chance to move up. We are holding back these riders that British speedway so badly needs, half of the fault lies with the promoters who havn't got the faith to give them a shot at riding in the main bunch and would rather bring in riders of lesser talent to fill the places from abroad. So if Newman went up into the team, you would be happy for Grajczonek or Millik to go down to reserve to ride against the other fast trackers?????? scottyfan
Or steve worrall in the main body and dakota north at reserve Exactly.......it wouldn't work or be fair to the other teams with fast trackers who aren't quite so good. weatherwatcher
The FTR should be made up of young British riders who only ride in the NL all of the same sort of standing. Not riders who have riden in the PL for years and also been in the reserve postion in the EL before this scheme started. If they can't find enough from the NL then bring in lads from the MDL. This is about lads improving thier riding not helping teams to win the EL as it is now.
