Berwick V Edinburgh - Pl Playoffs (20 September)

Recommended Posts

Obviously wasn't there, but I was told Edinburgh struggled early on when the track was wet and heavy, but picked up as the track dried out and became slick

Despite the loss and out of the Final now, Berwick should feel proud of what they have achieved this season, not bad for a small town so called tin pot speedway as was mentioned somewhere I recall early season. Five away league wins too but in the cold light of day it is no getting away from the fact that Monarchs are a good team.

Bandits fans should be proud of their team. Just ran out of steam at the business end of the season. I'm pleased to see Kevin Doolan come good after a few Bandits fans were calling for his head earlier in the year. Edited by Shads

Patched up!?!?? lol

I think Simota makes the Bandits stronger

Still think so at least our season lasted longer than last year just a pity we could not hold on to our lead to make the Worky matches interesting well done to the Monarchs. All the best for the final.

Unless there is a strange set of results between Edinburgh and Workington, Berwick`s play-off ambitions are over for this year. Fair play to Edinburgh, only providing 6 race winners and your still winning the meeting takes a bit of doing but that's what happened last night, no coincidence that their fortunes changed once Cook got going, but their real star was Snedden.

Three crucial falls while in scoring positions for Edberg, Vissing and Bellego cost Berwick dear, Doolan again was Berwick`s top rider but leading by 10pts at the end of HT10 and going on to lose needs looking at, not the first time that Berwick have lost the second half of the meeting. But the promotion can look back on an improving season in 2014, hopefully we will improve still further for 2015.

Yes your season made a few pundits and some folks on forums eat their words! One person in Speedway Star predictions had Berwick last. One thing I think Berwick must look at though is a hitter at number one who will score the big points away from home. Messrs Vissing, Doolan, Kus okay at home but at times dont hit the heights away apart from odd time! Do not mean any disrespect to Comets but there is as much chance of them winning at Armadale as a man landing on Mars tomorrow.

I agree, Berwick have had a decent season, we have deserved our place in the play-offs and even managed to win some away meetings. I like the idea of a big hitting No1 and always have done, however if your going down that route you need a top set of reserves. Berwick this season went for strength in depth and it worked. I hope they go down the same route next year, but we will need new riders if the team is to improve.

I see Cook is being a wally on Twitter again about Berwick, he would do well to remember that his home track is one which plenty of riders dislike but don't see fit to slag off on social media every time they visit. Seems he has as much room for improvement off track as on it if he wants to get anywhere near the top of the sport.

Stick that in yer pipe and smoke it! This drive home back from the hole is much better with 3 points in the bag 1f60a.png1f44c.png bye bye bandits

Do you mean this little beauty, IMO Cook is the top rider in the PL, and once again this season he has lead the Monarchs superbly, but there`s a way to win and a way to lose. Sadly Cook doesn't come over very well with tweets like this, its clear he doesn't like Berwick or its track, might be an idea to keep things like that to yourself Craig.

It was a great comeback from The Monarchs last night but I wouldn't be too down on the home team if I were you. Edberg came down as a result of the hole/rut/patchy ground on turn 4 (that had previously caught out a couple of others), Vissing was trying like a bear to overhaul Cookie when he lost it on the 4th turn (I hope he is okay) and yes Bellego came down unaided but was probably trying too hard. I wouldn't blame them per se for those incidents.

Edinburgh in the second half of the meeting were able to shuffle the under performing rider's remaining rides into the hands of Derek who made the difference.

In Claus Berwick have a rider that has improved tremendously this season and if I were Berwick I'd be trying to buy him. It's great to see Claus realise some of his potential as he's a great lad. I also really enjoy watching Kevin race as well, such a great style and whenever I've seen him he always tries hard and another nice guy.

Maybe the 'hole' he refers to is the same one he hit in Heat one and Alex hit while we were on a 5/1 can't be that difficult to fill a hole in surely

I agree it was an excellent comeback from Edinburgh and in the end they deserved their win.

That comment from cook has made me hope and pray Edinburgh dont win the league now

Guys a tosspott end of story

Dis-agree, even with the prat Cook, Edinburgh have been top for longest, and finished as top team, I think and hope they will win the play-offs. Maybe Mr Cook was high on the delights of winning at Berwick last night that clouded his judgement when posting his tweet.

It's obvious why a strength in depth Team have difficulties towards the end of meetings against the stronger Teams in the League if they do not build alead before Heat 10. At home they face the opposition no 1&5 three times in 5heats who are normally the best of the away team(if not the best away rider will be in heat 15 anyway)so they have to win the match by heat 14.berwick have had some close calls at home but got away with it.Away from Home against the better Teams we have got stuffed because we cannot cope with Hts 13&15.Bandits have had a ok season considering though . That's one thing about Social Media it lets you know the I.Q. of your favourite riders.
