Glasgow V Edinburgh - Pl Sunday 14th Sept - 5pm .... (yes 5pm!)

Recommended Posts

Sorry folks, you've got me for this meeting thread as Paulco is off to the Priory for a dry out session.
Only kidding...
... even they can't dry him out!

Being billed as potentially the final Scottish Derby meeting this season.
More frighteningly it's potentially the last Scottish Derby to take place in the UK!
Yours truly is touching more cloth than Mickey Dyer in a Monarch's riders wives hen night.

Anyway, back to the riding of the two-wheeled variety.

How opposites attract.
The Minions continue to chase the Rebels at the top of the league
... and the Glasgow Vehicles Alleged Tigers continue to chase their tail at the bottom.
Or derrière, if Le Wonder Kid is reading this.

With Sunday's meeting being the second of three in four days, will the Tigers be up for derriere intruding the Smugs?

All depends on who turns up.

Kevin or ... well Kevin? Track staff get the start gate right .... please.
Victor Pavarotten - will it be a case of Two Kevs ol' burger trick?
Rusty - Will he have another headache? - FFS he has more than Mrs M on Saturday nights! (Maybe Dickey Myer's got it right?)

Let's not forget though, worth the admission money alone, the Ashfield circuit will be graced by Polish speedway's new saviour .... step up to the plate none other than ... Craig Chef.
Ably assisted by his 6 dish washers.
So will Chef''s boys make the Bake-offs?
Who will eat the burgers and who will eat the buns?

Still undecided about going?
Well there will be a pudding.
Jeff Scott will be in attendance punting his latest 647 page cure for insomnia ... "Strictly Shale".

Here's the teams straight from the Tigers Website (well what did you expect, I'm not Stewart Dickson!)

The Glasgow "NO" voters:
Victor Palovaara
Theo Pijper (capt.)
Kevin Wolbert
Tero Aarnio
Rusty Harrison
Kasper "Lykke Buttton"
Mason Campton (G)

The Edinburgh 'NO" hopers:
Craig Chef
Justin Sedgmen
Max Fricke
Stevie Worrall
Sam Masters
Aaron Fox
Derek Sneddon (capt.)

.... and remember it's a 5pm start, so an extra two hours Buckfast for us, and two hours extra baking for them.

Finally, and most importantly, raid your piggy bank (or if you're a Weggie ... the neighbour's kids) as it's Speedway Rider's Benevolent Fund time ... so let's dig deep for the boys of all teams!

Teams as per Edinburgh website:-

Tigers Swedish signing, U-21 International Victor Palovaara will hopefully make his Armadale debut, but expect him to be (cough) "unavailable" for Sunday's return

Looks like 'unavailable' beat two Monarchs riders. No great surprise at the result though

No thanks, time to pull down the shutters on this season. Only Newcastle home and away KOC and Berwick LC at home to run both of which are meaningless unless of course we rattle up a cricket score at Newcastle! Meaningless gets my vote.

Predictable outcome still doesn't make it any easier to take continually getting turned over by the Monarchs if only we had the know how to team build the way they do along the M8 which they seem to do year after year.

If we do run next year here's hoping we can put a team on track that will be challenging at the business end off the season for a change we deserve something to cheer us up oh and one victory against the Monarchs would be nice just one

Bur fair play to them they really are a formidable outfit and Whilst Scunthorpe are showing some form lately i can only see Somerset stopping them but I would plump for Edinburgh to shade it and they would be Deserving champions this year with the consistency they have shown throughout.

For that to happen we need a change of race day, what about Mondays!

Forgot to add it must have been comforting to finally see Wolbert riding for Edinburgh again today because he wasn't riding for us that's for sure.

Sure if we consult with Fred he will let us know what day we will be racing and how much we pay the Riders and most probably everything else we need to know Armadale Gossip you cannae beat it .

God that was painful to watch . Consistantly outgated , and predictably outclassed . Losing Rusty , especially at home , made it a mountain to climb . And it was a mountain we never remotely looked like climbing .

What do you do with Wolbert ? Looked classy in the race he did gate in , didn't look remotely interested when he didn't gate , twice disgracefully riding into the pits before the race was done .

Pijper was again our best rider , though Kasper as usual tried his heart out ( Wolbert take note ) . If only Kasper could gate , though he wouldn't be as entertaining .

As for the Smugs , only weakness was Samantha .

So another season's worth of pumpings from our pals , not easy to take .

Will Wolberts average be low enough to join Edinburgh again,

Absolutely, however I think we should keep him for next year. In reality he is a 5 point rider as 2014 has shown and would make a decent No2 with the opportunity to improve when the pressure is on others to bring in the points.

What on earth is wolbert still doing af glasgow?

Havent paid that much attention to speedway for a year or so now since being in Australia but have looked at scores now and again and to see wolbert averaging 5 after signing as a number one is a joke

Clearly pissing round with his average ready for a return to edinburgh he should of been slung out months ago
