Alan_Jones
What did he say? Here's the PR. Rye House No.1 Edward Kennett was named as the clubs rider of the year in the centre green awards presentation that followed the Silver Ski Rockets victory over Scunthorpe. His Mr Rocket accolade was unsurprising, given his big hitting and consistency throughout the teams difficult campaign. Kennetts paid points total for the year now stands at 398, with the teams remaining fixture at Peterborough today (Sunday) still to be added in. Kennett also received the Sampford Trophy from team manager John Sampford. The trophy is awarded annually in memory of Sampfords parents to the rider judged the most exciting of the year. The Rye House captain looked back on the season afterwards when taking the mike to address the crowd. First of all, I think back to the beginning of March when we went to Peterborough and got a win, and I was like, Wow, weve got a team, but it came apart from there. But tonight proved (what we can do) we were all on form, and its just a shame it hasnt happened all year. It has been a tough year - Im not going to lie and I feel for Len (Silver), and I feel for you guys, because each week youve come to see us get beaten at home and away. But we all give 110%, and its just that sometimes it doesnt work out. I want to say thank you to you guys that have been here every week - without your support, we wouldnt be here and to Len for preparing a smooth track, and everyone else behind the scenes. I would love to come back to Rye House next year if Len has me back. I hope to see you all again in 2015.
