Swindon V Coventry 08/09/2014 Live On Sky

I have always been critical of the match selections shown on SKY, and feel with a bit of insight, there could be better fixtures and hence more interesting and closer matches on better prepared track, to motivate armchair watchers into regular supporters.

But last night, that theory, completely went out of the window. On a well prepared track, the two inform teams were supposed to be the best match possible.

But, after such a one sided affair it just goes to show, it's very difficult to predict which way these matches are going to go, and as last night shows nothing is certain anymore..

Swindon, Looked mighty impressive though...

Well that was disappointing, I was looking forward to a close match and a tight score, but Coventry justed rolled over.

Thought the track was in good condition and enjoyed some of the racing, Harris back to his SGP form and Hansen was awful he wasnt much better the last time I saw him either.

The swindon team looked very good they must be a cert for the play offs now.

What happened to superstar Garrity (well a superstar according to the gruesome twosome on the telly)?

Beat Greaves twice and Hansen once.

And don't let anyone tell me Cookie is the roller king - Sarjeant completely outranks him in that respect!!

5 rides - 5 rollers wasn't it?

Just read a quick sample of posts and, at a quick summoning, there's a feeling that many are just tuning in to speedway now, just for old times' sake and even out of habit.

In the background, while I was on the computer, I had the match on. Not once did I feel the need to actually want to grab my seat and watch any of it. But it was on, in case I missed something, out of habit, and for old times' sake.

We all know the sport is in need fresh thinking. Like that Ice-Bucket Challenge thing, it is going to die. There really needs to be major reviews and changes of certain things. But we know that.

However, I'm afraid this ain't gonna happen. Most with the power right now are simply more concerned with whether or not they can edge into the Play-Offs. Long-time plans for the sport... can it really be, who's on next week?

What they are putting up as entertainment is secondary.

Oh dear. Looks like the PL whingers have arrived.

Never ceases to amaze me how people who support lower league clubs claim that their league is better than the EL because the EL is weak, yet it's still stronger than the league that their own teams ride in.

In fairness to coventry they are better than what they showed tonight and flattered swindon, although the robins rode well rosco shouldnt read too much into this result. I hope swindon get to the play offs, they deserve it after the performances lately, particularly morris who is riding unbelievably well at the moment. Despite the scoreline I thought it was a entertaining meeting with some good passing moves, track looked good.

Agree with all of that FB. Just to add that Dakota North is also riding very well too.

Certainly would if you took out the maximum men and gave them back to their PL clubs!!

Stevie Worrall is owned by an EL club :icon_smile_clown:

Who owns Dak?

Have you looked the word 'Premier' up in the dictionary lately?

To be truthful, the Premier League is more appealing, not because it has better riders in it, which it hasn't (although, with doubling up, aren't many the same actors in different costumes?), it is because it has variety. It also has the presence that the people that take part actually do so because they have a passion for the sport, for racing and giving full effort to the customers.

The Premier League is suited better to the product we should be aiming for. Apart from, say, three riders... is the so-called top flight better than the PL?

I just had a look at the Peterborough team. It's kind of hilarious to believe that the side they currently have is even close to the standard of Swindon and Coventry.

Even with fast track reserves Swindon would probably hit around 70 against that lot.
