SCB
Real eye opener tonight. Edinburgh are where we were 8 or 9 years ago. Now we're a laughing stock, while Silver seems happy to let teams come here and humiliate us. It's obvious the place is being run down for closure. It's sad watching it from afar. I remember going to Rye House in 2003 and being over the moon we had managed to get a draw - it just didn't happen at Rye House back then! A few years later you were the envy of every club - good teams, owns your own stadium, had a CL/NL team so your future looked great. How could it go so wrong? DavyH
It's a shame that Rye House seem to be in a downward spiral, not been for years, the last one was probably the year Shadders refers to when Rye hammered Berwick in a table topping meeting. Hopefully if Uncle Len is giving up then someone can come in and rejuvenate things. Tonight, I expected a 6-8 away win but to score 59 away from home is exceptional, Monarchs back in top form after a quiet wee spell

Rico
Looked like there were more cars in the car park than fans there tonight. Very professional display from the Monarchs tonight, with everyone chipping in. Cook was head and shoulders above everyone Sedgemen solid, good pass in heat 1 Fricke looked fast. Nice ride to repass Kennett who had steamed past Max on back straight R/R definitely strengthened Monarchs tonight (no offence to Steve W intended but when you can replace someone who started the season on a 3 with the likes of Cook and Masters....) Sam some clever first bends saw him through to a great score Aaron looked very competitive and more than did his job Deek apart from one ride when he was off the pace was excellent For Rye Kennett was made to look ordinary, Garrity looked like a world champion when he had fresh air ahead of him. Boxall awful, Barrett worse, Greenwood promising. Most entertaining Rocket was Bowen who put 100% into every race and got probably the biggest cheer of the night for passing Fox in heat 2. If Monarchs have ideas of winning the league this was the sort of fixture they needed to do the job in and they more than did so. There will be much tougher tests to come in the playoffs but this will have done the teams confidence the world of good. TheScotsman
No track grading at all during the meeting last night. Is this normal at Rye nowadays? Does it save money? Have to say in fairness though the track seemed to ride well all evening. Mostly gate & go but maybe Monarchs were just too sharp from the gate? Cookie was very fast. Untroubled all night - made it interesting in 1 heat by letting the Rye boys gate first then picking them off with nonchalant ease. Kennett wasn't. Pretty dire all night when I had expected him to score nearly a max. Sam Masters rode some great second bends. Max Fricke was steady but unspectacular apart from his pass on Kennett. Justin Sedgmen again steady and unspectacular. Deek did better than I expected. Still slow but kept to his lines and picked up a decent score though I think his slowness resulted in Bowen catching Aaron Fox on the last bend in heat 2. And Foxy rode very well - gated well and rode with aggression. Promising. Much better than Dilger!! Garrity showed some fight (the right kind this time!). Won his races comfortably when he gated though it kinda looked like Monarchs were happy to fill the next places rather than give chase. Bowen likewise showed some good spirit. Boxall?? Must be a nightmare having him in your team. How many did he score at Redcar? And then he produces this crap. Even Aaron Fox beat him comfortably. Barrett - what can I say? Absolute pants. Greenwood tried hard but he was so much better on my previous visit to Rye when he was with Peterborough. What a dismal place Rye is nowadays. Could hardly hear the PA on the first bend. No atmosphere at all. Crowd looked better than I expected but not great. Spirally downwards.

Glenn
Kennett was the real disappointment last night - he struggled to keep on the pace mind you so did most of the Rye team!! End of season can't come quick enough and then we have the winter to speculate.
Shadders
As much as I love my club and will defend them until I'm blue in the face, I can't defend that crap last night. Easily dispatched a poor Peterborough side on Wednesday, but here's a measure of where we are now. Completely unacceptable.
Dave Stummings
Funny sport speedway. Rockets hammer Peterborough, Peterborough beat Edinburgh with out two much trouble and Edinburgh thrash Rye House. "It's a funny old game" as Jimmy Greaves would say! Al Stewart
Funny sport speedway. Rockets hammer Peterborough, Peterborough beat Edinburgh with out two much trouble and Edinburgh thrash Rye House. "It's a funny old game" as Jimmy Greaves would say! But when we went to Peterborough, their top five was Blackbird, Dryml, Summers, Ostergaard and r/r with them all getting a ride. They are weaker now. Still a valid point though. Cheque book speedway is the winner This is such a ridiculous post. Edinburgh would never bring in to their team an established Elite Leage rider like Eddie Kennett. We signed Craig Cook in 2011 with the money we got from transferring Aaron Summers. Sam Masters was begging for a team place on Facebook. Justin Sedgmen had been written off by many. Steve Worrall was a 3-pointer. Max Fricke surprisingly didn't have many chasing him, he would probably have gone to Leicester last year to link up with a friend in the area, if they had made an offer but they didn't. Yes it's expensive, of course it is when they score 59 away from home the day after getting 67 at Armadale.

Easily dispatched a poor Peterborough side on Wednesday, but here's a measure of where we are now. Completely unacceptable. In a funny sort of way i'm pleased about the Edinburgh thrashing. They were head and shoulders above where we are at the moment and although not a fan of Craig Cook he showed how good he could be and should heed the Advice of Kelvin Tatum and drop the Pl as he's learning nothing from meetings like this where Rye were way below the required standard. I'd never insult Len Silver for what he has achieved in the sport but his finger is nowhere near the pulse since he teamed up with Kent which i see is his priority at the moment. His rambling programme notes yesterday were particularly galling for those who support Rye through thick and thin. I think he got his comments 100 percent wrong stating that the internet critics are living in a fantasy land. It is he surely who has made errors in the last couple of seasons and is living in fantasy land if he feels he is above criticism, twice he has allowed Nelson to be included in a side only to be lost because the promotion and the rider didn't get the Visa issues right. This season he replaces him with a rider he must have known would not be available a good deal of the time through his foreign commitments and then bleats about not having the ability to replace him as he and sampford didn't understand the rules. A little bit of honesty at the start of the season would have gone a long way, yes he had a big expenditure with the air fence and fair play for taking that on the chin but to talk up his team then bleat when things go wrong and knock his dwindling support is bang out of order Given the recent run of better form this defeat, not only in size but the manner of the defeat must make him realise and admit his teams shortcomings rather than further alienate the few fans he has left with idiotic programme notes. If next season doesn't see him bring in some proper heat leaders and drop his loyalty scheme for some riders there will be no speedway at Rye. wake up Mr Silver stop knocking the fans No track grading at all during the meeting last night. Your own question answered surely Barratt was a guest, a poor one at that but doesn't really count in a summing up of Rye House surely? Rye House reminds me of Glasgow and Edinburgh, dismal Stadia with crowds that make you wonder how it pays but if course a little success now and again makes it all ok

You get paid Big Bucks for taking earth from demolition/ building sites which is what he used on the bends!
Shadders
Can't disagree with any of Westhamboys post. Like a few others I travel all over the country supporting my team, spending a small fortune in the process. To be slagged off by Silver for having the gall to criticise his team selection, track prep and general mishandling of the Rye House Rockets, turning us from the envy of the Premier League to a laughing stock in just a few years is an insult to and all Rockets fans. He banished the supporters club almost as soon as he took over in the late 90's, so where else can we air our grievances and frustrations other than on the inter web? He's really lost touch in what we really want, as the dwindling gates have shown I'd also like to apologise for any immediate post match rantings concerning Edinburgh Speedway. This was borne out of a mixture of frustration, some upsetting news from Berwick (not speedway related) and some very strong Somerset farmhouse cider. What I should've said was, well done to the Monarchs on their win. This is where we should be right now, not battling Sheffield for the wooden spoon. cityrebel
Fair play to you shads. I was not at the launch pad last night, I went to Arlington instead. Another venue with a far from certain future. Let's hope the eagles and the rockets survive to fight another day, and come to the tapes in 2015.

Shadders
Shadders Is the club and team in a worst state now or when Big Ron was promoter in the early 90s? VV I wasn't such a frequent visitor in the last season. Just married and a kid on the way, plus my then missus wasn't such a speedway fan. Hard to say which team is worst, but I'm feeling it more now as I'm more of a fan than I was back then.
