Goodiepatchie
Course they can, this is speedway. Shame for the fans who forked out for 30 heats of speedway mind but hopefully the injured riders are ok still cheaper than edinburgh's upcoming double header
Popular Post me2
Looks like common sense to me. The meeting is beyond Glasgow, so they give the second meeting a chance with Workington and Somerset both chasing league points. Double headers need to run like clockwork but no one can be blamed for crash related delays. Looks like a good compromise to me and Glasgow should be applauded for agreeing to the curtailment. They could have insisted on running the full fifteen heats and the second meeting wouldn't have had a chance. OK, the fans missed out on some racing, but that can't be helped given the circumstances. Double headers must be a nightmare to organise. It would be desperately unfair to the Workington promotion if the second meeting hadn't reached a conclusion after all their efforts. I think it was a reasonable compromise. Hope the injured guys are OK.
scaramanga
first things first as said above the main thing is chriss mills has had a serious accident tonight resulting in the air ambulance being called i for one hope it isnot as bad as it looked and sounds when you hear air ambulance i was at workington tonight and as far as i remeber abandoned was never mentiond i believe the anouncment was after talks with both teams and the ref considering the score line and another meeting due the decissun is to call the result after heat 12 as it happens to get to heat 2 in the second meeting it took 20 mins after curfew now i had been told by a very reliable soarce the 2nd meeting was going to be pulled after heat 10 and all the track staff started to pick there gear up after heat 10 only for the 2 minute warning to be sounded so looks like possibly somerset wouldnt agree to a result after 10 ? all the best chris mills nobody wants to see riders taken away by ambulance never mind a air ambulance
flagrag
Firstly I hope Chris Mills is not too badly injured as sounds like a horrible crash and he is a nice guy. Was the air ambulance called due to the nature of the injury or to speed up the meeting ? as if the track Dr would have gone by land ambulance with him there would have been no chance of 2nd meeting anyway. Lord Lucan
Firstly I hope Chris Mills is not too badly injured as sounds like a horrible crash and he is a nice guy. Yes, it was deemed by the County Ambulance crew best to air lift him to a better qualified hospital straight away as a precaution rather than spend time in the locale first!! Managed to make this after all tho not the best of meetings to be fair, Glasgow not on song this night as last whereas Comets were, always in the van, always the more likely to win!! Poor return from Rusty via e/f's falls hamstrung Glasgow, Wolbert a bit in and out, Pijper was solid, Lykke tried hard without ever looking like winning a race but worthy of his points and Aarnio just got going a bit too late!! Losing Mills to that purler of a crash, (heard rather than seen) didn't help either, hope his injuries are not too serious but wiping out several metres of fence all on your own never looks good? Get well soon fella!! Comets tho much too good tonight with excellent contributions all round most noteworthy through Rene and Kyle and major plusses for Ricky and Mason, Josh slipped up in one and fair enough returns from Joe and Simon helped pull out the comfortable win and bag the three pts!! arnieg
I think edmon is right about it being against the rules, but cyclone is right about there being precedents, and common sense suggests that it would be better to have results in both meetings. I seem to recall this being done at Oxford in the days of conference league double headers. best wishes to Millsy for a speedy recovery Edited September 7, 2014 by arnieg
screm
Running double header meetings when there`s a curfew is a risk, sadly last night that risk was compounded by two accidents that saw riders withdrawn and in one case an air ambulance required, maybe one or two on here could remember that before complaining about not getting thirty heats for their money. Hope Jacobs and Mills are up and about asap.

Lord Lucan
Pleased that Millsy is in one piece, relatively speaking, never saw the crash, just heard it, and when I looked back all I saw was a piece of fence flapping around like a white flag and a big hole, no sign of him at all, really expected the worse at that point!!
