Mimmo Posted September 4, 2014 Report Share Posted September 4, 2014 So after 14-years of racing, Darren has taken the decision to hang up his kevlars for good, and beat his dad to the smoking jacket and slippers!! I'm so glad that I was in attendance to see both your final and home and away meetings this week mate. You probably never reached the dizzy heights in the sport that you would have liked, and what we would have liked for you, but injury played a major part in that. You leave the sport with the Ronnie Moore Cup that you won at Wimbledon in 2003, along with one you would rather not have had to have been apart of, and that is of course the Memorial Trophy for your pal David Nix at King's Lynn in 2005. You also leave with our love and heartfelt thanks for all the pleasure that you've provided us with over those years. You've been a credit to the clubs you have ridden for, namely Somerset, Boston and King's Lynn. You've been a credit to your various employers, sponsors and fans. You've been a credit to the sport you've represented, but most importantly, you've been a credit to yourself along with your family and friends. You can leave us with your held high, enjoy a happy and healthy retirement, and a massive thanks for everything you've given to us. I've watched Darren riding for many years now, and I'm sure all Kings Lynn fans will want to wish him the best for the future, in what ever he decides to do. Darren has suffered far to many injuries over the years, and it says something about his guts and determination, that he always come back to entertain us. A more likeable guy you could not wish to meet, he always has a smile on his face, and has time to chat to his many supporters. Good luck for the future Darren, and a huge thank you for all the entertainment and dedication you have shown over many years. You will be missed on the track, but I'm sure you will still be seen on the terraces at Saddlebow Road. Once this sport gets in your blood, its difficult to shake off! Best wishes to him for the future. Absolutely. If only airfences were around in his early career at least 2 of his big bangs on turn 4 round the NA he'd of walked away from. Most certainly would have been in the Elite League by now but for injuries but that could be said sadly for a lot of up and coming riders.
