You are talking absolute rubbish. If a team takes the lead and it takes them top of the table, yes they go on about it.

Besides, your point is invalid anyway. Remind me what happens after EVERY football match when the points change? They show and discuss the standings. Speedway is different as every heat is in effect a match.. And after it the standings will change.

What do you expect him to do? Not talk about it?

No need for the rubbishing comments, each to their own and all that. The total points stuff is for the studio analysis section as far as I'm concerned, if Nigel alludes to it the odd time fair enough but he's screaming about it as the riders are crossing the line, all wrong for me..

There is more to making commentary interesting than merely describing what is happening using a bunch of clichés and spouting nonsense about shopping malls and Abba.

Criticism of ABBA will not be tolerated.

The total points position is the most important aspect of the series at this stage and is rightly a focus of the presentation.

Just as on the final day of the footy you get a table as it stands after every goal.

'That's the name of the game ' though? I think you should write to Eurosport and tell them you're a 'super trooper ' the commentators are rubbish, you could even say 'gimme gimme gimme' a try ' or take a chance on me 'as ' I have a dream' or you could challenge kelvin and nige in a 'winner takes it all' contest stressing ' one of us' could do better But 'knowing me knowing you' you won't you will just continue to whinge behind a keyboard about petty things :)

The total points stuff is the most important information of all... It matters not what you're concerned with.

You're suggesting that commentators on a speedway GP don't mention who is winning the championship and the change in standings as it happens? Seriously? Bizzare.

Oh god they have turned into smashie & nicie now

Fair comment but cricket & golf commentators amongst others aren't as repetitive

Well cricket commentators change every 45 minutes or so. Golf there is always something new to talk about. Usually many players in action, the ball in different locations, different shots to be taken.

Speedway is repetitive. 4 riders from the same starts on the same track every race

So they shouldn't mention the points or anything about the host city? Can they mention the result if the heat? Or is that bad too?

the info re the host city has to be included for me. Without the backing from many local tourist boards the series wouldnt happen as it does.

Maybe I think less would be more sometimes rather than just spouting stock phrases

Every famous commentator has stock phrases.

Not sure why Eurosport not once, but 3 times have the nerve to tell us bare faced lies, when we can see the reality with our own eyes.

Perhaps invisibility cloaks are a big seller in Sweden?

Cricket commentators change every 20 minutes rushing from TMS to Sky et al..

I really can't understand the criticism of NIgel and Kelvin..(I know they're not great)..

However we do actually get to watch live speedway with some commentary that let's us know what is going on..

Not so long ago, BBC Wiltshire used a plumber to be the informative 'voice of the people' for STFC matches - that really was a joke..

Re. telling us the stadium was full (Andy Jaye said this not Pearson or Tatum - Scott Nicholls only agreed, somewhat embarrassingly). Jaye also reckoned Chris Holder was "helping" Tai Woffinden in the semi-finals. Total and clueless spring to mind.

Bottom teir straights were fairly full both sides and the first second corner straight section was pretty full as well, big gaps on the corners and the upper teir was the same.

10 to 15k would be my guess, the row I was in had 6 other supporters and choice of about 70 seats and we had several rows around us just the same, they concentrated the supporters shots on the straights which were mostly full.

The top teir wasn't used at all and screened off.
