On the one side i can see that BSI wouldn't want to stick someone in that at this stage might upset the apple cart as it were and get in amongst the top scorers during the important race for the title. But it does seem a poor choice and robs the paying public of seeing one of the top contenders for a wild card place.Any of the riders listed by scb would be far better than Nilsson .Obviously the newly crowned Euro champ comming in and beating the soon to be crowned world champ would be a bit of an embarrasment that i can understand they would want to avoid

All that above stands for the Challenge as well. Just change Bsi to FIM.

And thanks Phil for the clarification.

Didnt bother them last year at Torun - look who won, nor the last but one gp this year in Gorzow. Track specialists who rob others of points. Its going to be a swede wild card in Sweden isnt it. So why not give an up and coming rider, who performs well, a chance to flavour a world gp - thats an amazing privilage and one to look forward to then remember

But we are now talking about reserve/substitúte riders, not wild cards.

Exactly.Think OveF.... has missed the point. This isn't about choosing a wildcard this is about choosing a substitute from all the worlds best riders that aren't currently in the GPs surely? Then you end up with a someone like Nilsson instead of Kildemand.Different class and robs the paying public and tv viewers imo.No-one argues that a local wildcard might be a bit of a duffer, but substitutes shouldn't be in that category if there is already a local wildcard selected. My opinion

WHEN compiling the programme for Stockholm was told that as Ward was only suspended and could conceivably still ride if his ban was lifted, MJJ was in fact replacing the injured Iversen.

When the programme went to press we still weren't able to include Kim Nilsson as the replacement for Ward although we knew it would be him.

MJJ will continue to replace Iversen in Torun and a substitute for Ward, should one be required, will be named later and most likely be a Polish rider.

Phil

It's clear substitute riders are done different from before when previously it was done with riders from the challenge.

Is their a list of substitute riders that's published or do they just pick someone from the home federation.

THE finishing order in the 2013 Challenge was used down to Michael Jepsen Jensen with Smolinski, Harris and Batchelor having already gaining SGP places despite not finishing in the top three.

For the final three SGP meetings this year the FIM decided to nominate a rider ... Beck in Vojens, Nilsson in Stockholm and who knows who in Torun.

Re SGP reserves... once a rider has signed on (either before practice or before 4pm on race day) he can only be replaced by a reserve (as was the case with Woffinden in Gorzow). Hancock did not sign on but didn't officially withdraw until Saturday when it was deemed too late to find a rider other than one of the reserves,

I do agree with what you have said Iris. As wild cards are just that and have no relevance (as far as winning it is concerned) on the series then I am more in favour of seeing different riders given their chances in a SGP rather than the same ones, just because they have done well. We need to give SGP experiences to as many quality riders as possible. I think PK has done great this year in his two appearances and look forward to seeing him in the SGP in the near future. However, another wild card for PK is not going to make any difference whereas it could be really good experience and a chance for another rider to burst though. Must admit, I personally think there are better cases for one that KN but good look to lad and I hope he takes his chances on Saturday.

All that is clear and understandable-but why don`t they replace the reserve who has been called up into the meeting ?? It just doesn`t make sense that they don`t.

Probably lack of time, as it's generally last minute.

They'd then have to pay someone, and they probably don't want to do that.

But tbf you could get a home track youngster and pay him a hundred quid plus likely minimal points money . Young rider gets a fantastic experience, you have enough reserve cover... hard to see a problem with it?

You'd probably get your hundred quid back with family/mates going to watch.

Flying Gatwick - Arlanda on Friday. Staying at the Scandic 35 minute walk from the stadium.

Hoping to go to Hammerby 7pm for the open meeting. Looked on their website, but I can't find out who's riding. Anybody know if it's a good field?

Check out Hammarby speedway Facebook page

Yes he is...

Excellent news. Might not be his biggest fan but I hate for any rider to have a World Title shot ruined by injury. To put a positive spin on it, Greg, Tai and KK have all missed a round to injury now so unless Nicki P or Matej burst past them all this years World Champion will not have claims of, "only won it due to injury to the other top guy(s)".

Hopefully Greg scores lots of points - but Tai scores half a dozen or so more :D
