TheReturn
Pretty harsh to say Batchelor isn't good enough, he gave a decent account of himself in what was his first GP season at fairly short notice. Maybe, but I would not rank him above the other four or five names provided. If he is considered good enough on his racing ability above the other riders then I would not have a problem with him having a GP spot. I would have an issue with him being given a spot on the basis of his nationality.
norbold
Does anyone have any statistics on how many times the no. 9 has been given a wild card for the following year?
Crazy robin
Got to be Niels & Killer with THJ getting the token Swedish ride but the final one should be Troy as he improved over the season after getting a late call up & would be in front of THJ if done on merit. The series needs Emil though or Greg Liguta & every effort should be made to get one of them.
dabbsjoe
How said it is that we are talking about having another Aussie with the GP going there next season. Why are we not talking about who the best riders for the GP series would be, regardless of nationality? Which leaves you with four choices in my opinion: NKI - Has to be nailed on Kildemand - Done enough to suggest he is good enough. Emil - If he wants it? Ward - Should he be given a wildcard is another debate, but he is one of the best out there. I have discounted Batch because he is not good enough. If he is given a wildcard because he is an Aussie it will be incredibly sad for the sport. Like how Harris was given all those wild cards he got ? waiheke1
Not so convinced that Batchelor has a particularly strong claim. Yes he finished 9th, but that would have been eleventh but for nki and wards premature end to the season. If u assume that emil is unavailable, then I agree with the consensus that nki kildermand and thj are very likely. Ward if not suspended to get the other spot. Otherwise, on merit the likes of vaculik zmarzlick and pawlicki surely have stronger claim s than batch. With holder and Doyle in the series already, there will be at least three aussies in the Australian gp anyway. Bsi may historically have been against having four riders from one country, but surely commercially as well as for speedway reasons an extra pole makes more sense than batch?
racers and royals
Google translation of Sportowefakty published Q and A with Paul Bellamy BSI(translation bit weird in places but one can get the gist) The number of tournaments SGP DPS location, as well as wild cards for the 2015 season we talked to the managing director of BSI, Paul Bellamy.Maciej Kmiecik: We're talking the final Grand Prix of the season in 2014, which was dominated by injuries leading speedway, but the battle for the individual medals and places in the top 8 was fought to the end. How do you assess this season compete in the SGP?Paul Bellamy: I agree that it was an exciting season. In the final competition we had everything we electrified the crowd. It was a fight to the very end of the individual medals. We have amazing world champion Greg Hancock, vice wonderful, Krzysztof Kasprzak and as usual gallant bronze medalist, Nicky Pedersen. To emerge the second runner-world race extra was needed. Twelve rounds of struggle, and at the end decide the medal race extra. What do you want more? He set the audience on the beautiful stadium in Torun. The atmosphere was electrifying. No other sport on the planet can not compare to the slag. That's all I have lived in Toruń was wonderful.Greg Hancock winning the world title in 2014 broke many records and made history speedway ...- Greg Hancock has smashed many records. He was the oldest world champion. There is no words to describe the uniqueness of this man. Despite the fact that he was running for the slag so many years, the speedway still amuses him and makes him great joy. You can see that he still enjoys the ride. This is an incredible player respected by rivals off the track, and most of all the fans. This was evident in the reaction of the audience, who cheered in honor of the new world champion. You said that Torun is a fantastic place for the slag and the Grand Prix. Were difficult negotiations on the renewal of a contract for next season?- I could not imagine that such a beautiful property, with such a great audience, and incredibly hospitable to speedway Torun, could fall out of the map Grand Prix. I am delighted that we have reached an agreement with the city and for the next three years will be a place of struggle Motoarena best speedway riders of the world. Torun is a speedway city that lives Speedway all the time. You can see it in every corner of this beautiful city. Do not I hide that is one of my favorite places playing tournaments Grand Prix. The atmosphere here is unique. Emphasize once again - hospitality in Toruń is unique and very glad that the next three seasons will visit here again. On the map of the Grand Prix of Australia returns. Speedway for the first time for the year will go in Melbourne. Is there already a foregone conclusion that for each additional five years in Australia will be just finished a series of SGP?- Yes. The reason for this decision is prosaic. Etihad Stadium in Melbourne has such a large capacity, it was not possible to organize a Grand Prix at other times than the end of October or beginning of November. On this beautiful facility hosts many other sporting events and we had to fire the in their free periods. We are very pleased to be returning to Australia. It is for us a very important market. Australia has many excellent speedway and a strong interest in speedway fans in Australia. Next year, the Grand Prix will race Chris Holder, a new face will be Jason Doyle. It is also Darcy Ward, whose future is uncertain, unfortunately, in the cycle of the SGP. Strictly for slag is a very important market. It is possible the organization's Australian World Team Cup? Australians who for years could not reach for the gold medal they said that they dream about it, to just on their own land to fight for the trophy to them. Ove Fundin ...- It is a little more complicated. As is known from June to August, when a rule takes place World Team Cup, the best matches and going all the European league. I think that it is not feasible to take in Europe for at least two and a half weeks at the other end of the globe several leading representation of the world. Speedway riders in this time racing in Poland, Sweden, the UK and Denmark. At the moment, the DPS is in the summer and one of the European countries. No has just, you know already where DPS will be played next year?- We have not made a final decision yet. We're talking to several countries about the organization play-off and final World Team Cup. When will succeed have a full calendar of the Grand Prix, then we will adjust dates and venues for the World Cup.Paul Bellamy is delighted that the cycle will remain in Torun SGP, while competition for the title of world champion after years of going back to AustraliaWhich countries out of the question?- United Kingdom, Denmark and Poland. At the moment, these three countries are taken into account. We already know how many rounds will consist of a series of SGP in 2015?- Remain at twelve round Grand Prix. For this will be four World Cup tournaments. I refer to two semi-finals in various countries, as well as play-off and final traditionally in one place. At what stage are the talks in the organization of the Grand Prix at the National Stadium in Warsaw?- This is still the open and talk to the people concerned in this matter. We have had a lot of really positive meeting and I am optimistic on the organization of the Grand Prix in the Polish capital. We try to overdub the correct term, in which both the stadium will be free, but we are looking for date, guaranteeing the greatest interest in the competition. The National Stadium is not the object of a typical cinder, so you have to be prepared. But I am an optimist and I believe that we can find a compromise satisfactory to all parties. At the moment we do not have any contract signed yet.At the end of the talk about permanent wild cards, because this is a topic that always curious fans. Who BSI will take into account when allocating four places in next year's series of the SGP?- That's a tough question. I must admit that every year we have a problem with that. In fact prześpimy after the final competition in Torun, and you've been thinking about granting wild cards. Let me just say that I am happy that a number of very valuable players ensured the maintenance cycle. I refer to Jaroslaw Hampel, who lived difficult moments this year, but in the end he returned to form and took his place in the top eight. Similarly, Andreas Jonsson, who was promoted to a great finish sixth. Both are great speedway, for years chasing the Grand Prix, where he played a leading role. Well, that keep them in the cycle and we do not have them booked solid wild card, because the choice would be even more difficult. That's ask you directly. In the lobby is said to be one of the wild cards will get Martin Smolinski. You confirm this?- Without a doubt, this is a player that we take into consideration when allocating permanent wild card.Injury Niels Kristian Iversen eliminated. This is another sure thing for the wild card?- If it were just my personal decision, Niels Kristian Iversen receive a wild card. He fell out of the cycle only because of the unfortunate injury injury during Gorzow. Sam, however, I do not take such a decision, so we ogronie decision-makers to consider the candidacy of Niels Kristian Iversen, who last season won the bronze medal, and this - until the injury - was also at the forefront.Peter Kildemand? He failed to qualify as true Grand Prix Challenge, but the Dane has had a fantastic season. Such blockbuster cycle speedway missing in SGP ...- Rider has made amazing progress in recent times. To slag takes very professionally and systematically developed. In many media speculations regarding wild cards appears in the name of Peter Kildemanda. It will definitely be taken into consideration. And are there any chances for a wild card for one of the young Polish speedway? Bartosz Zmarzlik won the Grand Prix in Gorzow, and Peter Pawlicki was Junior World Champion ...- Of course we look at the young żużlowcom who make steady progress. At this moment in the cycle of the SGP in 2015 we have three Polish players. This does not mean that there can be four representatives of the Polish. In your country organize three tournaments Grand Prix, which also is taken into account for the granting of permanent invitations. Do not forget that we have once a wild card for the individual tournaments.
waiheke1
Who was officially fifth in the gp challenge - covatti, thj or pawlicki? Is it possible ward will be given a wildcard, and then if banned his spot go to next on the list? Would be very disappointed if smolinski got a wild card. PHILIPRISING
UNLIKE this year, after the final 15 permanent riders have been determined, any further changes during the 2015 season will be made by the FIM and BSI rather than promoting a rider from the Challenge (as with MJJ this year for example). TheReturn
So out with the sporting contest and in with the popularity contest? What a joke. Echo this. Wildcard's should only be used to allocate riders who missed the top 8 through injury, rest should be from GP challenge.
Gavan
Echo this. Wildcard's should only be used to allocate riders who missed the top 8 through injury, rest should be from GP challenge. Absolutly correct. Thers should be some sort of system where the riders from say 9-12 go into the challenge. I know now that they can still go through the qualifiers but i think the fact that because Freddie Lindgren is world number 10 shouldnt just exclude him straightaway. If you have done enough to be in the top 12 in the world then why should you still have to do lots of meeetings on top of the gp to qualify for the next season. Personally i would have the challenge after the last gp and i would include Batchelor, Lindgren, Smolinski and Bjerre in the challenge and see them fight for a place. If people are good enough to be in ahead of them then they will prove their worth in the challenge
